Updates

The Cameron Park Community Services District’s (CPCSD) revised websitewill be launched by the end of April! From the home page you can view the events calendar, register for classes, reserve a park/facility, view the photo gallery and more! There may still be a few bugs to work out and we appreciate your patience. Your feedback is always welcome.

The Community Center kitchen is now stocked with pots, pans and more! Great for fundraising events! Contact the CPCSD office at (530) 677-2231 to make a facility reservation.

The CPCSD is gearing up for summer. New paddle boats have been delivered to Cameron Park Lake. Boats are available weekends noon to 5:00 p.m. and upon reservation. The swimming lagoon and the Community Center pool will open May 28th!

The new Activity Guide is out and posted on our website. Sign up your children or grandchildren for swim lessons andsummer day camp now and save money! Register for summer day camp by May 13th for $159 per week - after May 13th, the cost will go up to $165 per week. Summer day camp starts May 31stwith a full calendar of exciting activities! Each week has a field trip and opportunities at Cameron Park Lake as well as the Community Center pool. This is very popular and fills up fast!

The Sierra Sharks swim team started their season on April 25that the Community Center pool and Aqua Sol will start in mid-August. Group swim lessons begin May 31st for all ages - from six months up. Private lessons are also available.

There are several job openings at the CPCSD, including full-time positions Parks Superintendent and Parks Maintenance Worker I. Part-time seasonal Life Guard, Concession Stand Worker/Pool Attendant, Kiosk Attendant, Aquatic Coordinator, Kids Summer Day Camp Leader are also available. Many of these positions are perfect for students home for the summer or just for summer fun! Visit our website or stop by the CPCSD office for more information.

Events

A free Tennis Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 7th at the Cameron Park Lake tennis courts. Come out and meet our pro/coach Andy Webb.

Older Americans’ Month will be celebrated on May 17th, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at a special event sponsored by the Mature Leadership Council in the Community Center. The theme is “Blaze a Trail” honoring contributions of yesterday, today and all the steps that lead to tomorrow. It will include lunch, original displays of careers, accomplishments, technological advances, inspiration guideposts and more. Call the CPCSD office at (530) 677-2231 to reserve a spot.

Food Trucks in the Foothills will be featured at the Trucks & Tunes event on Wednesday, May 25th, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Christa McAuliffe Park. Enjoy an evening of delicious food and live music. This event is a partnership between the Cameron Park Foundation and the CPCSD. Proceeds from this event will support the Cameron Park Community Foundation.

Welcome to Summer! Will kick off the opening of the Community Center pool on Saturday, May 28th, noon to 5:00 p.m. Come and enjoy free swim! Food and vendor booths will add to the festivity this year. This will also provide an opportunity to plan out your summer and reserve spots by registering for pool passes, swim lessons, summer camps, summer programs, special events and purchase your Summer Spectacular wrist bands!

Join the community in the celebration “Summer Spectacular – A Golden Adventure!”on June 25th at Cameron Park Lake. More details will be available on the CPCSD website soon. There will be shuttle buses available this year which will be an asset to the event! Take the shuttle and join in the fun – new additions to the event include raffles, gold nugget hunt, kids activities, great food/music and more!

Classes and Programs

Lots of new classes. Everything from sports camp to dance to arts, to recycling classes, mad science camps and much more. New adult classes including arts, fitness, nutrition, gardening and more. Senior classes include everything from exercise to computer use to Medicare information to senior legal counseling, master gardening and master food preserving.

Aquatic fun this summer includes swim lessons, public swim, mermaid classes for youth and adults, pool parties, Welcome to Summer and much more! Visit our website at for more information.

New this year is a sailing windsurfing/kayak program for ages 12+ years. This is a 14-hour course which covers boating safety, knots, rigging and sailing theory. The class will be held at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River.

Don’t forget safety classes! Get certified for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First AidHeartsaver, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Lifeguard now. Both new and renewal certification classes are available. Bonus safety classes include super-sitters, child and babysitting safety,babysitting CPR and hunter safety and more.

Some exciting trips/tours are being planned for mature adults, which require your reservation soon. There will be a fall trip to Philadelphia, the Poconos and the Amish Country. A San Antoniotrip in November and Arizona Spring Training Getaway next spring. Don’t forget the Senior Nutrition Program on Mondays and Fridays at the Community Center, the speaker series, and the ever popular Fifty-Plus Room for games and other activities.

“New West Haven” and the “Nurse Next Door” host monthly Bingo parties at the Cameron Park Community Center. Julie and Carrie continue to be a delight as they coordinate this activity, call out numbers for winning cards and hand out prizes.
