General Information for Expressions Dance Teams:
Team auditions will be held the week of October 17th for all teams. Students are required to audition and must attend and participate in all activities. Attendance for these teams will be taken very seriously, so please consider that before auditioning or committing to a team! Students will be made aware of what team they have made at the parent meeting for teams. There is a level for each student, so every student that auditions will be placed and then can make the decision if they want to commit! Students will need to let us know which team they are auditioning for at the start of audition week! Students will receive a copy of the audition notes and recommendations ahead of time. There will be several components to auditioning and students will be placed in accordance to the judges average scores and recommendations. There will be a $10 audition fee due at sign in on the first night of audition week. There is no extra monthly fee for team practices at this point, however there is a one time team registration fee that will be due by or before the parent/student team meeting scheduled in January. Travel expenses, costume expenses, and entry fees are part of competing or performing. Students are responsible for any added costs of being a part of a team. We as a studio try to keep those to a minimum! Below is a brief description of each team level. If you have any question regarding auditions or team requirements, please speak with Miss. Nikki.
D-Fye Dance Crew- Coached by Hope Koontz for the 2016/2017 Season
If hip hop is a big interest for you or your student, then this is a team you want to sign up for! Students must be of age 8 or higher and enrolled in a jazz/hip hop class. Students DO NOT have to AUDITION for this for this team!!!!! Practices will be held every other Sunday when season begins.
Expressions All Stars- Coached by Elizabeth Wickens for the 2016/2017 Season
This team is for any student ages 6 and up. Requirements for this team are minimal as students are only required to be enrolled in 2 core classes and commit to the team guidelines. This team is a performance team and will be performing at local events as well as 1 competition to gain performance experience, build their skill set, and learn to work on a dance team. This level of team is entered in a novice category at competition and at most takes 2 routines. Practices for this team will be held every other Sunday when season begins.
On Pointe Competition Team- Coached by Madelyne Bressler for the 2016/2017 Season
This team is an intermediate competition team and will be entered as so at any competition. Students must be enrolled in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Acro (Does not have to perform in these classes). This team will have anywhere from 1-3 routines they take to a competition in addition to duos/trios and or solos. There will be required team warm ups, costumes, hair, and makeup expectations as well as attendance, behavior, and skill requirements. Practices will be held every other Sunday and could require every Sunday when close to competition.
Expressions Elite Competition Team- Coached by Nikki Pittman
Elite team has the most commitment and most skill requirement. Students are required to commit to attendance for events, competitions, and practices and have little room for poor attendance or lack of priority for dance. Students will be required to be enrolled in Ballet, Jazz, Acro, Contemporary, and Turns/Leaps class to be considered for placement on the team as well as meeting the skill requirement portion of the audition.
*It is NOT mandatory for students to perform in the required classes. We strongly encourage them to perform as it will enhance their performance skills and keep them comfortable on stage.
*Placement is made based on audition performance, behavior, attendance, previous dance history, and potential seen from our judging panel and the director of the studio.
