Diversity and Global Awareness

The student will be able to interact effectively and appropriately in a diverse, multi-cultural, and global society.

Student will be able to:

  1. Explain the impact of culture on self-concept, thoughts, behaviors, and values.
  1. Describe personal preferences, belief systems, and the process of enculturation.
  1. Discuss the value of multiple perspectives.
  1. Collaborate with individuals who have different worldviews.
  1. Compare and contrast diversity, ethnocentrism, and related concepts.
  1. Use verbal, nonverbal and written communication effectively and appropriately in a variety of cultural contexts.
  1. Describehow culture shapes and is influenced by aspects of society (ie: arts, literature, institutions, or behavior).
  1. Explain the relationships between cultures within and/or outside of the United States.
