Summary:
Assistant Teacher – Caring, intelligent, creative thinker needed to work with 2 to 4 year olds in progressive center in Central Seattle. Experience and education in Early Childhood Education plus the ability to work well with multi-ethnic families and team members. Supportive environment to grow and develop.
Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Become familiar with the policies and goals of the center.
2. Learn what materials and equipment are suitable for different age levels.
3. Learn the kinds of behavior to be expected at different levels.
4. Reinforcing acceptable behavior, helping to guide, instruct, and supervise children in groups.
5. Assisting children in proper handling and storage of toys and equipment.
6. Preparing and setting up materials for scheduled activities.
7. Encouraging and reinforcing interest in books, stories, music and other activities.
8. Learn how children use different types of material and equipment.
9. Learn how different types of play helps children grow and develop.
10. Responsible for developing and safekeeping a workplace that values and supports a culturally diverse work environment.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Qualifications which applicant must possess to be considered for position; the only exception would be if applicant possessed appropriate substitute qualifications; see below.)
1. High School diploma or GED.
2. Experience working with children 2 to 8 years old.
3. Tolerant, open and cooperative attitude toward people of different races and/or cultures.
4. Washington State Driver’s License.
5. Commitment to developing and safekeeping a workplace that values and supports a culturally diverse work environment.
