4. Assessment – faculty letter

Items that are needed

a. the letter to faculty – this term - Penney will send a new draft asap.

b. the white paper to faculty on the state of GE and the philosophy of GE

c. the FAQ on assessment overall-Roger has agreed to take this on.

d. maybe an FAQ for the CAR.

The CAR needs to reflect a different message – maybe some overarching language that indicates that the data from individual courses is like a snapshot, and collectively, they provide the bigger picture of how well the GE Program goals are being met. While faculty are assessing only their own section of the course, that assessment contributes to assessment of GE at the subcategory and category level.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:00.

Next meeting – Dec. 1, 167 LOH (not KC or LHH) – full GES meeting
