1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Verification of Conditions: Examine areas and conditions under which Work is to be performed and identify conditions that may be detrimental to proper or timely completion.

1. Rough-in of drains, traps, tanks, and manholes; verify locations.

B. Pipe Connections

1. Threads: Inspect mating pipe connections for form and cleanliness.

2. Mating flange faces: inspect for conditions that may cause leaking.

a. Bolting: Proper size, length, and material.

b. Gaskets: Proper size and material composition suitable for application; defect and damage free.

3. Grooved connections: Clean, undamaged and ready for assembly.

C. Replace defective components with new ones.

D. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 CONNECTIONS

A. Prevent contamination of pipes with dirt and debris while making connections.

B. Install piping to allow service and maintenance.

3.3 FLOOR DRAIN INSTALLATION

A. Set floor drains with tops flush with pavement surface.

1. Fasten grates to drains.

B. Concrete depth surrounding floor drains: 4-inch (100-mm) minimum.

1. Comply with requirements from sections in Division 03 addressing "Cast-in-Place Concrete" or "Miscellaneous Cast-in-Place Concrete."

C. Cleanouts: Install at grade. Cleanouts to open in direction of flow.

1. Fittings: Same material as sewer pipe and riser extensions.

2. In earth: In concrete, 18 x 18 x 12 inches (450 x 450 x 300 mm) depth.

a. Tops: 1 inch (25 mm) above surrounding grade.

3. Concrete pavement: Tops flush with pavement surface.

a. Formwork, reinforcement, and requirements: Comply with requirements from sections in division 03 addressing "Cast-in-Place Concrete" or "Miscellaneous Cast-in-Place Concrete."

3.4 NEUTRALIZATION TANK INSTALLATION

A. Install per manufacturer's instructions.

1. Make tops of tank covers flush with finished paved surfaces.

2. Set tops of tank covers (in / mm) ______above finished surfaces.

3.5 MANHOLE INSTALLATION

1. Make tops of manhole frames and covers flush with finished paved surfaces.

3.6 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Test per authorities having jurisdiction.

B. Piping Tests: prior to covering and after curing and setting of concrete thrust blocks .Fill and pressurize pipeline to test pressure a minimum of 24 hours before testing.

C. Hydrostatic Tests:

1. Test Pressure: One-and-one-half times the working pressure for two hours.

a. Increase pressure at increments of 50-psig (350-kPa).

1) Inspect joints.

b. Maintain test pressure for one hour, minimum.

c. Decrease test pressure to zero psig (zero kPa).

d. Increase pressure at increments of 50-psig (350-kPa).

1) Inspect joints.

e. Maintain test pressure for one hour, minimum.

f. Allowable leakage: 2 quarts (1.89 L) per hour per 100 joints.

2. Remake leaking joints with new materials and repeat test until leakage is within allowed limits.

D. Prepare test and inspection reports.

3.7 IDENTIFICATION

A. Comply with requirements for identification specified in Section 15076 "Identification for Plumbing Piping and Equipment."

3.8 CLEANING

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Retain one of the following paragraphs below.

A. Flush piping systems as described by authorities having jurisdiction.

B. Flush new piping, altered existing piping, and repaired piping prior to use.
