I.ENERGY STAR

1.05SUBMITTALS

A.Product Data: Provide product data sheets for each type of product indicated in this section.

B.Shop Drawings: Provide manufacturers standard details and approved shop drawings for the roof system specified.

C.Samples: Provide samples of insulations, fasteners, membrane materials and accessories for verification of quality.

D.Certificates: Installer shall provide written documentation from the manufacturer of their authorization to install the roof system, and eligibility to obtain the warranty specified in this section.

E.L.E.E.D. submittal: Coordinate with Section 01115 - Green Building Requirements, for LEED certification submittal forms and certification templates

1.06QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.Manufacturer’s Qualifications: GAF shall provide a roofing system that meets or exceeds all criteria listed in this section.

B.Installer’s Qualifications: ***CHOOSE ONE***

1.Installer shall be classified as a Master or Master Select contractor as defined and certified by GAF.

2.Installer shall be classified as a Master Select contractor as defined and certified by GAF.

3.Installer shall be classified as a Master contractor as defined and certified by GAF.

4.Installer shall be classified as an Authorized contractor as defined and certified by GAF.

C.Installer’s Qualifications:

1.Installer shall be classified as a Master or Master Select contractor as defined and certified by GAF.

2.Installer must be a GAF® Certified Maintenance Professional (CMP) to offer WellRoof™ Guarantee Extension Program.

D.Source Limitations: All components listed in this section shall be provided by a single manufacturer or approved by the primary roofing manufacturer.

E.Final Inspection***ONLY DIAMOND PLEDGE***

Manufacturer’s representative shall provide a comprehensive final inspection after completion of the roof system. All application errors must be addressed and final punch list completed.

1.07PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE

A.Prior to scheduled commencement of the roofing installation and associated work, conduct a meeting at the project site with the installer, architect, owner, GAF representative and any other persons directly involved with the performance of the work. The installer shall record conference discussions to include decisions and agreements reached (or disagreements), and furnish copies of recorded discussions to each attending party. The main purpose of this meeting is to review foreseeable methods and procedures related to roofing work.

1.08PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A.Provide an installed roofing membrane and base flashing system that does not permit the passage of water, and will withstand the design pressures calculated in accordance with the most current revision of ASCE 7.

B.GAF shall provide all primary roofing materials that are physically and chemically compatible when installed in accordance with manufacturers current application requirements.

C.Heat Aging

1.Test Method D573. Age sheet specimens for 150 days at 275°F. After exposure, the specimens shall be removed, wrapped around a 3 inch mandrel, and inspected for cracks and crazing. A specimen is rated “pass” if no cracks or crazing is observed.

D.Weather Resistance:

1.Test Method G151 and G155, using conditions detailed in ASTM D6878 except that the radiant exposure should be 40,320 kJ/m2.nm at 340 nm (i.e. 4 times the D6878 standard). After exposure, the specimens shall be removed, wrapped around a 3 inch mandrel, and inspected for cracks and crazing. A specimen is rated “pass” if no cracks or crazing is observed.

1.09REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

A.All work shall be performed in a safe, professional manner, conforming to all federal, state and local codes.

B.Exterior Fire Test Exposure: Provide a roofing system achieving a UL Class A B C ***CHOOSE ONE*** ratingfor roof slopes indicated.

C.Windstorm Classification: Provide a roofing system which will achieve a Factory Mutual 1-60 1-75 1-90 1-120 1-135 1-150 1-180 ***CHOOSE ONE*** wind uplift rating,as listed inthe current FM Approval Guide.

1.10DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A.Deliver all roofing materials to the site in original containers, with factory seals intact. All products are to carry either a GAF® or BMCA® label.

B.Store all pail goods in their original undamaged containers in a clean, dry location within their specified temperature range.

C.Do not expose materials to moisture in any form before, during, or after delivery to the site. Reject delivery of materials that show evidence of contact with moisture.

D.Remove manufacturer supplied plastic covers from materials provided with such. Use “breathable” type covers such as canvas tarpaulins to allow venting and protection from weather and moisture. Cover and protect materials at the end of each work day. Do not remove any protective tarpaulins until immediately before the material will be installed.

E.Materials shall be stored above 55°F (12.6°C) a minimum of 24 hours prior to application.

1.11PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.Weather

1.Proceed with roofing only when existing and forecasted weather conditions permit.

2.Ambient temperatures must be above 45°F (7.2°C) when applying hot asphalt or water based adhesives.

1.12WARRANTY***CHOOSE ONE WARRANTY***

A.Provide Manufacturers standard EverGuard® Diamond Pledge Guarantee with single source coverage and no monetary limitation where the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components in the roofing system, which cause a leak due to a failure in materials or workmanship.

1.Duration: Five(5), Ten (10), Fifteen (15), Twenty (20), Twenty-Five (25), Thirty (30)***CHOOSE ONE*** years from the date of completion.

B.Provide Manufacturers standard EverGuard® Diamond Pledge Guarantee with the WELL ROOF Guarantee Extension Program. Provides single source coverage* and no monetary limitation, where the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components in the roofing system, which cause a leak due to a failure in materials or workmanship.

1.Duration: Ten (10) Fifteen (15) Twenty (20) ***CHOOSE ONE*** Twenty-Five (25) Thirty (30) years from the date of completion.

2.Extension: GAF also guarantees to the original or first subsequent owner that coverage shall be extended by 25% of the original guarantee length, provided that the roof in inspected and maintained in accordance with the MAINTAINENCE section of this specification.

3.Contractor must be a GAF® Certified Maintenance Professional (CMP) to obtain WellRoof™ Guarantee Extension.

C.Provide Manufacturers standard GAF® All-American Pledge Guarantee with single source coverage and no monetary limitation where the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components in the roofing system, which cause a leak due to a failure in materials or workmanship.

1.Duration: Twenty (20) ***CHOOSE ONE*** years from the date of completion.

D.Provide Manufacturers standard EverGuard® System Pledge Guarantee with single source coverage and a monetary limitation of one (1) dollar per square foot where the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components in the roof system, which cause a leak due to failure in materials or workmanship.

1.Duration: Five (5), Ten (10), Fifteen (15), Twenty (20), Twenty-Five (25), Thirty (30)***CHOOSE ONE*** years from the date of completion.

*Materials and workmanship of listed products within this section when installed in accordance with current GAF application and specification requirements. Contact GAF Contractor Services for the full terms and conditions of the guarantee.

E.Provide Manufacturers standard WeatherStopper® Integrated Roofing System Guarantee where the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace the portion of the roofing materials, which have resulted in a leak due to a manufacturing defect or defects caused by ordinary wear and tear.

1.Duration: Five(5), Ten (10), Fifteen (15), Twenty (20) ***CHOOSE ONE*** years from the date of completion.

F.Provide Manufacturers standard prorated material warranty where the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace the portion of the roofing materials that have resulted in a leak due to a manufacturing defect or defects caused by ordinary wear and tear.

G.***FA 60 and 80 mil only***EverGuard® TPO Puncture Resistance Limited Warranty: GAF warrants to the original building owner, that the EverGuard® TPO roof membrane will provide puncture and tear resistance when installed and maintained in accordance with GAF’s requirements.

H.EverGuard® TPO Reflectivity Limited Warranty: GAF warrants to the original building owner, that the EverGuard® TPO white roof membrane will meet or exceed the initial and “aged” ENERGY STAR® reflectivity requirements for low slope roofing membranes (65% initial, 50% aged) when installed and maintained in accordance with GAF’s requirements. The aged reflectivity shall meet or exceed these requirements when measured after cleaning the membrane in accordance with GAF recommendations.

A.SBS Modified self-adhering leak barrier that serves as a low-slope vapor retarder. Each full roll contains 2 squares (222.5 gross sqft) (20.6 m2) of roofing material, 67.8’ x 39.4”, and 0.065” (65 mil) thick, weighing 65.3 lbs. Underroof® 2 Low-Slope Vapor Retarder, by GAF®.

B.SBS Modified self-adhering leak barrier that serves as a low-slope vapor retarder. Each full roll contains 2 squares (18.6 m2) of roofing material, 61’ x 39.4”. Underroof™ HT (High Temperature) Low-Slope Vapor Retarder, by GAF®.

2.03AIR AND VAPOR RETARDER SYSTEM ***CHOOSE APPROPRIATE PRODUCTS***

A.Asphalt impregnated kraft paper with fiberglass strand reinforced edges; available in 32” X 405’ (10 square) rolls and 96” X 405’ (30 square) rolls, Permate Vapor Retarder by GAF.

B.Black, rubber-base solvent type adhesive available in 5 gallon pails and 50 gallon drums, Permate Adhesive by GAF.

C.Specially compounded, flexible, black 4 mil vinyl sheet available in 32” X 405’ (10 square) rolls, Lexsuco Vapor Retarder by GAF.

2.07SEPARATION MEMBRANE

A.Fire Resistant non woven fiberglass slip sheet used as a separation sheet over polystyrene foam insulation or beneath insulation over wood substrates providing a UL class A fire rating. Each roll contains ten (10) squares (1,000 sq. ft.) of material, 6’ x 166.7’ (1.83m x 50.8m), 110 lbs nominal weight, VersaShield Solo® Fire Resistant Slip Sheet by GAF.

B.Fire Resistant non woven fiberglass sheet used as a separation sheet over polystyrene foam insulation or beneath insulation over wood substrates providing a UL class A fire rating. Each roll contains three and one-half squares (350 sq. ft.) of material, 42” x 100’ (1.07m x 30.48m), 52.5lbs nominal weight, VersaShield ® Fire Resistant Roof Deck Protection by GAF.

C.Water-based, low VOC, self extinguishing liquid applied coating system using patent pending FireShield technology. Available in 5 gal pails and 55 gal drums, FireOut™ Fire Barrier Coating by GAF.

D.Non-woven polyester UV-stabilized mat, 3 oz./sq. yd. used as a separation sheet beneath membranes as a protection layer and used over membranes in ballast applied assemblies. Each roll contains thirty (30) squares (3,000 sq. ft.) of material, 10’ x 300’ (3.07m x 92.3m), 75 lbs. (34.1 kg), Polymat Separation Layer 3 oz. by GAF.

E.Non-woven polyester UV-stabilized mat, 6 oz./sq. yd. used as a separation sheet beneath membranes as a protection layer and used over membranes in ballast or paver applied assemblies. Each roll contains thirty (30) squares (3,000 sq. ft.) of material, 10’ x 300’ (3.07m x 92.3m), 125 lbs. (56.8 kg), Polymat Cushioning Layer 6 oz. by GAF.

F.Fire resistant glass fiber mat used as a separation sheet over polystyrene foam insulation or beneath insulation over wood substrates. Each roll contains ten (10) squares (1,000 sq. ft.) of material, 4’ x 250’ (1.2m x 76.9m), 80 lbs. (36.4 kg), Fiberglass Fire Sheet 10.

G.Fire resistant glass fiber mat used as a separation sheet over polystyrene foam insulation or beneath insulation over wood substrates. Each roll contains four (4) squares (420 sq. ft.) of material, 4’ x 105’ (1.2m x 32.3m), 79 lbs. (35.9 kg), Fiberglass Fire Sheet 50.

2.08MEMBRANE MATERIALS***CHOOSE APPROPRIATE PRODUCTS***

A.A smooth type, polyester scrim reinforced thermoplastic polyolefin membrane with a nominal 0.045 inch (45 mil) thickness, for use as a single ply roofing membrane. Meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of ASTM D-6878. UL Listed, FM Approved, Dade County Product Approval, Florida Building Code Approved. White membrane is Energy Star Listed, CRRC Listed and Title 24 Compliant. Each full roll contains approximately 1000 sq.ft. of roofing material, 10’ X 100’, weighing 256 lbs. Each half sheet roll contains approximately 500 sq.ft. of roofing material, 5’ X 100’, weighing 142 lbs. Half sheet roll required for roof perimeter use in mechanically attached systems.
