Specific requirements in terms of call scope / The Principal Investigator applying for this call must be based at a Japanese institution which is eligible for AMED grants.
AMED will not fund research focussed on vulnerable populations in high income countries through this call. Applications to the AMED must focus on low- and middle-income countries.
Eligible institutions / The Principal Investigator has to be based at an eligible institution in Japan, in line with AMED eligibility policy provided in the supplemental application guideline.
It is not permitted for the same person to be a Principal Investigator on more than one proposal submitted to this call.
Co-investigator requirements / Research team must be comprised with one or more collaborating researcher (s)*and/or co-investigator(s)**who belong to a collaborating research institute (s) of the LMICs.
Collaborating researcher (研究協力者)and co-investigator (分担研究者)are different.
*Collaborating researcher(s) is a researcher who collaborates with research project but his/her affiliating institute can’t conclude a contract with AMED to use a grant.Budget can be disbursed for collaborating researcher by Japanese PI or co-investigator.
**Co-investigator(s) isa researcher who collaborates with research project and his/her affiliating institute concludes a contract with AMED or PI’s institute to use directly a grant. If an investigator of non-Japanese research institute hopes to be a co-investigator, please contact AMED during the application period.
Project location requirements / Projects funded through the AMED should focus upon countries with low or middle income economies. World Bank definitions of low and middleincome economies can be found at DAC List of ODA Recipients
Eligible costs and further information on funding conditions / Research grants will be awarded in line with standard of AMED policy.Details of the information about eligible costs and further information can be found onthe AMED web site.
Anticipated amount of funding available for this call (approx.) / 0~2 project is expected to be awarded.
The total grants is up to¥20,000,000 per year and per project for up to 5 years.(Including indirect cost)
