Subject: FY2015 Request for Proposals (RFP): Science Support Partnership (SSP) program in FWS Region 1

FWS Project Leaders, Region 1:

Please find attached theFY2015 Request for Proposals (RFP) and Instructionsfor the Science Support Partnership (SSP) Program with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). This program is an opportunity to address high priority research and information needs of our U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) programs through our partnership with researchers at USGS. Approximately $189,000 will be available in FY2015 for new SSP projects in Region 1. Six documents are attached for the FY 2015 RFP package:

·FY2015 RFP and Instructions

·Signature page template

·Detailed instructions for entering an SSP proposal into the FWINS database

·Details regarding the rolls and responsibilities of FWS and USGS partners involved with SSP projects

·An example of a 1-page Curriculum Vita (CV) required from each Principal Investigator (PI)

·Review criteria that the Region 1 SSP Coordinating Committee will use to evaluate and rank SSP proposals for Region 1.

If you or someone from your office/station plans to prepare a SSP proposal with a USGS researcher, please communicate your interests to the appropriate member of the Coordinating Committee above.Each of them can provide guidance during the proposal preparation process, and they will also need to understand – during the proposal review process - the problem or need that the proposed project will address.

·Submission of proposal: Friday, June 13, 2014

·Submission of cover letter from FWS Project Officer: Friday, June 13, 2014

·Submission of Signature Page: Friday, July 18, 2014 (Note later due date for signature page).
