Dear Applicant,

Congratulations on taking a step towards making a positive impact on our campus and enhancing your leadership abilities. Committing to ASB means being organized, responsible, and involved. To run for an ASB Executive Office a 2.5 GPA or higher, a minimum of one full term in high school ASB and no history of discipline policy violations. ASB is a priority; it is essential that you know your schedule is balanced for next year and that you will be able to remain in your ASB position for the entire calendar year (both terms, period 2, Sept-June). If you have any questions about your schedule please talk to a counselor before you run for an ASB Executive Office.

Executive Council Positions:

These packets are available on April 17th. They are due on Monday, April 24th by 3:30 pm Mrs. Hayes in room C105. Each part of this packet must be completely filled out to receive full credit for it. The letters of recommendation must be from 2 sources from Canyon Crest Academy (teachers, staff). After your packet has been reviewed, interviews will be scheduled. Tuesday April 25th and Wednesday the 26th are President and Vice President Interviews from 3:30-5:00.

Executive Class Positions:

For the executive class positions the Freshman committee will be in charge of Seasonal events. (Grams, Green Day, ect.) The sophomore committee will be in charge of Lunchtime Events. The Junior committee will be in charge of Dances. As a class official your job is to fundraise for your class.

POINT SYSTEM – GETTING ON THE BALLOT (based on 200 points) You will need 180 points.

Any poster or booth designs if available (remember all your designs must be approved by ASB before they are presented to the rest of the student body)

Officer Duties

Your enrollment in this class means that you are willing to devote time and energy to student activities on and off campus. More than giving of your time and talents, you are going to learn skills which will allow you to become a more effective leader, planner, and organizer. You will learn how to set goals and to effectively take steps in achieving those goals. You will learn successful strategies in how to communicate with others as well as planning meaningful and organized events and activities. You will get out of this class what you put into it. A maximum of effort and participation will get you a maximum of satisfaction and achievement. The effort you put forth is up to you.

CLASS OBLIGATION

·  Participate in all CCA activities

·  Wear school colors when appropriate (Every Friday is school colors day)

·  Get to class on time

·  Put things back when you are finished with them

·  Don’t leave the room without signing out.

·  Wait for class to be dismissed. Please do not congregate near the door as the end of the period approaches.

·  Avoid disturbing other classes

·  Trash clean-up on a regular basis .

·  Active participation in CCA student council

·  Organize event planning, following steps in paperwork.

Election Rules and Regulations

**Candidates that violate the following rules are subject to expulsion from the election.

Campaigning on Campus

·  All posters and designs must be approved by ASB

Signs:

·  Blue tape must be used if posting on any painted surfaces.

·  May not be any larger than 10ft. by 3ft.

·  Must be taken down by the end of elections May 5th, 2006 by 3:30 pm.

The use of doors, classrooms, and locker rooms to post up signs must be approved by teachers/coaches

·  No flyers (papers that flow freely around campus)

·  Floor signs are only permitted the days of elections May 4th & 5th, 2005.

·  During election days, there will be no campaigning w/in 150ft of the voting polls

ASB will provide you with:

·  16 feet of butcher paper

·  The use of ASB inks (only if used with care and under supervision)

·  The opportunity to make signs after school when an ASB executive council member and advisor are present

Slander

·  At no time may any candidate engage in personal attacks on any teacher, administrator, or student. No remarks shall be made against opponents that are judged to be as slanderous.

Bribery

At no time may a candidate bribe people for votes. This includes paying money, giving gifts, or passing out food/candy.

Those moving on will be able to begin campaigning on April 30th , 2006. All campaigning materials must be taken down by May 5th, 2006 by 3:30pm.

The Candidate must abide by all the other Election Rules and Regulations as well.
