Newpop-up storewith clothes from young designers

GaleriaKatowicka, a shopping mall located in the heart of the city, promotes unique, unconventional and ambitious initiatives. Furia Clothing showroom offering top Polishindependent brands has just opened its pop-up store there. The pop-up retail concepteffectively supports young designers. It was developed in the US and UK at the start of the 21st century.

Addressing an increasing interest in fashion, design and young designers, GaleriaKatowicka decided to open short-term sales space where unique products can be presented and traded. The concept is referred to as a pop-up store/shop or flash retailing.

Furia Clothing pop-up store is the second project of this sort (following Klakier Gallery showroom)in GaleriaKatowicka.

“The name, Furia Clothing, was inspired by the fact that a lot of decisions related to the showroom’s opening were made at the spur of a moment. One of the crucial ones was to quit work and pursue the dream of having a clothes shop. Fury is also a condition every woman experiences at times, when looking through her wardrobe to conclude she’s got nothing to wear,” says Maja Wiśniowska, founder ofFuria Clothing showroom.

The pop-up store in GaleriaKatowicka offers independent brands, such as Risk made in Warsaw, StaffByMafffrom a popular fashion blogger(Maffashion), Lana Nguyen (with a popular message that says “Stressed Depressed But Well Dressed"), Mozcau, Loff, My Manifesto, Polanka, Marthu (men’s bow-ties and shirts)and many others.

Furia Clothing is aimed at confident consumers who tend to pick quality designs and materials. All clothes are made in Polish sewing factories or designers’ own workshops.

“Furia is right for everyone, regardless of age. We cater to various styles and have a lot of unique items tempting customers with their originality. Our clothes also perfectly match the style of GaleriaKatowicka,” adds Maja Wiśniowska.

Furia Clothing showroom’s interior design is based on minimalism, so that everyone can focus primarily on clothes. Geometrical forms used in GaleriaKatowicka inspired the design of hangers consistent with the mall’s overall interior concept.

Furia Clothing is located at level +2. Entrance to the showroom is indicated with a special neon-sign made by Irsa, a renowned Katowice-based company that creates exclusive advertising elements for which the city used to be famous in the past.

More about pop-up stores

The concept of pop-up retail emerged in the US and UK at the onset of the 21st century. Stores opening for a short period of time only (sometimes even just one evening) were first developed by Vacant, an American company whose owners came up with the idea during their trip to Tokyo. They realized the tremendous appeal of small shops offering limited edition products from niche retailers, which close when goods are sold out and reopen upon receiving a new batch. Vacant modified the concept and decided toclosea store permanently after the merchandise has been sold, leaving the customers wanting more. Using this idea, Vacant and Dr. Martens opened a pop-up store in New York.

A pop-up store is a good way to evoke customers’ interest. Examples include a shopthat featured many collaborative products created as tie-ins with “Tron: Legacy” before the movie premiere, a Reebok store offering limited editions of apparel and shoes for a month in NY, as well as Prada’s temporary shop in Paris, which was open for five months.

GaleriaKatowicka, a unique retail and transport center, is located in the heart of Katowice. Its retail space of 53,000 m2 hosts over 250 stores and service points. Customers can leave their vehicles at an underground two-level car park with 1,200 parking spaces. GaleriaKatowickaoffers direct access to the railway station and the underground public bus terminal. The mall has a Multikino cinema with 10 screening rooms, incl. an ultra-modern “Xtreme” room equipped with Dolby Atmos sound system.

The project’s investors are NEINVER Poland, PKP SA and Meyer Bergman. Cushman & Wakefield is the sole agent responsible for leasing retail space in GaleriaKatowicka.

The construction process of GaleriaKatowicka, a mixed-use transport, retail and business complex, began in December 2010. The investment’s first stage covered the railway station that was completed in October 2012. February 2013 saw the opening of the underground bus terminal. GaleriaKatowickawas opened on September 18, 2013.
