Salary & Benefits / Salary: Approx gross 28,300,000 TZS per annum. Net = 17,826,640 TZS per annum. Please note Restless Development commits to paying net salary amounts. The contract is for one year with a strong probability of extension.
Benefits: 24 days annual vacation and national health insurance scheme, plus (if the postholder is not resident within Tanzania) one annual flight from country of origin, relocation allowance, comprehensive travel insurance and a home-country supplement allowance.
Context / Restless Development is the leading youth-led development agency (w and we are seeking an outstanding fundraiser to lead our fundraising and partnerships activities within Tanzania. We are entering an ambitious new strategic plan from 2011-2015, and this role will lead on maintaining relationships with diverse strategic partners including government, multilateral and bilateral agencies, trusts and foundations, and the private sector. The new Fundraising Partnerships Manager will pro-actively seek out new potential partners and donors, manage existing donor partnerships in-country and will work closely with the Country Director and Senior Manager – Programmes, to enhance programme quality, through effective programme development, proposal writing and project cycle management in line with donor requirements and internal Programme Quality standards.
You will be a committed and talented individual who will be part of our Management Committee, and will proactively engage in supporting leadership of the organisation. Within this body you will provide technical advice and oversight of fundraising and partnerships work, in collaboration with the Country Director. The Management Committee will work closely with you to ensure they and their teams meet all key performance objectives in relation to managing and building partnerships.
The Fundraising Partnerships Manager will be expected to travel in-country on a regular basis.
Skills and Qualifications / Essential:
  • Two years’ experience in fundraising and donor management including bilateral and multilateral donor relations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English, including exceptional networking and representation skills at high-level meetings and events.
  • Graduate level degree (Degree, Masters, or Diploma).
  • Strong knowledge of current and future funding trends, as well as of development issues, especially sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, wealth creation, livelihoods, governance and accountability.
  • An excellent understanding of project cycle management (inc. problem/objective trees, stakeholder analysis, project planning, budgeting).
  • A strong personal commitment to the values, aims and approaches of Restless Development.
  • Ability to work in ateam.
  • Computer literate - competent in the use of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Desirable:
  • Experience of working in development in an African context.
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience of corporate and individual fundraising.
  • Ability to train and support staff to understand developing and managing donor relationships and funding.
  • Fluency in Swahili.
  • Knowledge of using online social platforms for fundraising, marketing and communications is desirable.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
30% of time / Fundraising
Main Duties /
  • Development and maintenance of fundraising strategies and plans
  • Identification and cultivation of relationships with new potential donors
  • Lead on coordination of project development and proposal-writing for donors including off the shelf packages and strategic pitches
  • Contract management
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal fundraising teams across Restless Development

30% of time / Donor Relationship Managementand Reporting
Main Duties /
  • Development and maintenance of donor/partner management plan, delegating to other members of the Management Committee and keeping track of progress
  • Leading on donor reporting, focusing on demonstrating impact and programme learning
  • Lead on communications with existing donor partners, in collaboration with the Country Director and Senior Manager – Programmes.
  • Support global fundraising and donor relationship management processes
  • Work closely with international fundraising team to feed into global fundraising and donor management processes, as well as contributing to achievement of global objectives.

10% of time / HR and Performance Management
Main Duties /
  • Training and mentoring of staff in fundraising, grant management, project cycle management and relationship-building
  • Coordination of all Tanzania staff in fundraising, partnerships and marketing efforts
  • Supervision and support of any future fundraising and partnerships staff

15% of time / Public Relations, Marketing and Communications
Main Duties /
  • Oversight of activities, meetings and events to raise the profile of the organisation
  • Building relationships with local media to showcase our work
  • Coordinate production of annual reportas well as other publications and research

10% / Active participation in the Management Committee
  • Production of monthly and quarterly Fundraising and income updates for review with the Management Committee and Restless Development International.
  • Supporting roll out and communication of key MC level planning/ decisions
  • Actively supporting the Senior Manager – Programmes, and other Managers, including acting as cover whilst peer MC members are on leave, on in-country visits etc.
  • Serve as a role model at all times, personally embodying Restless Development’s mission and values, whilst helping to ensure that Restless Development’s code of conduct, policies and standards are understood by all and adhered to in practice

5% of time / Other Duties as Required
