Start date: June 2014. Salary: £22,000 p.a.

The Kaleidoscope Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced person to take responsibility for developing and diversifying the Trust’s fundraising activities. The post will be based at our office in Dalston, London. The successful applicant will be a self-starter, good at communications, administration and excel at developing relationships with a range of donors and funders. Working as part of a small team the successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running and be capable of working without supervision.

Job description:

The post holder will be responsible for the following: -

Fundraising (approximately 50% of role)

  • To work to the Assistant Director and the Board fundraising committee to implement a wide-ranging fundraising strategy
  • To research and identify trusts, foundations, organisations and statutory funders.
  • To draft compelling funding applications, reports and any other documentation.
  • To create and maintain accurate records of funding applications.
  • To maintain regular communications with existing individual donors, both large and small, and initiate plans to expand the number of donors.
  • To develop and deliver new and existing fundraising events, identifying and maximising opportunities to increase income and participation.
  • To work to specific income targets, expenditure budgets, objectives, KPIs, and provide reports as required
  • To ensure the timely and effective marketing of all event fundraising activities to maximise participation using a variety of channels, both on and offline
  • To maintain and develop excellent relationships with existing corporate and commercial sponsors
  • To identify and develop excellent relationships with potential sponsors
  • Maintain event information on the website
  • Work with agencies and other team members to design, print and distribute event marketing materials
  • To work with supporters and external partners to encourage and successfully deliver external fundraising events and activities
  • To manage communications with small and regular donors

Events (20%)

  • In conjunction with the Assistant Director, successfully planning and managing the Trust’s range of events – including lectures, panel discussions and arts events
  • To work with partners, funders and sponsors to ensure that all events are profitable
  • Working with the Media volunteer to promote and market events
  • Liaising with and maintaining relationships withorganising partners

Volunteer Management (15%)

  • Work with the Assistant Director, an external consultant and the Board to develop an effective volunteer strategy
  • To recruit and manage volunteers to assist at events and in the office
  • To maintain accurate records of the Trust’s volunteers
  • To communicateregularly with the Trust’s volunteers
  • To effectively manage volunteers for the benefit of the Trust

Admin (15%)

  • Support the Assistant Director with ad hoc admin when required

Person Specification:

Necessary

Experience of overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder events

Ability to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget

Ability to work in a small team

Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners

Strong written and oral communications

An understanding of social media

Desired

A familiarity with fundraising databases

An understanding of LGBT rights issue, particularly in the international sphere

Experience with drafting successful funding applications
