Fundations Homework: Unit 8 Week 2
Please use the attached lined Fundations paper to complete the following tasks for homework. Thank you for practicing these skills with your child.
Concept: Unit 8 focuses on blends. A blend contains two or more consonants that each make their own sound, such as /s/ and /l/ like in the word “slip.” Blends can be found in the beginning of words or at the end. We will also learn about digraph blends. A digraph blend is a digraph blended with another consonant, such as /n/ and /ch/ in the word “lunch.” Blends are marked with two separate lines and digraphs are marked with one line. Digraph Blend Example: b e n ch
Directions:
1. Say the letter sound, word, or sentence and have your child echo the letter sound, word, or sentence.
2. When spelling words in isolation or in sentences, your child should tap out the letter sounds before writing.
*Reminder: DO NOT tap out trick words.
3. Have your child write the letters, words, and sentence on their homework paper.
4. Mark any words as needed (ex. mark blends and digraph blends)
Parents: Dictate Sounds, Words, & Sentence. Your child should tap out and write the following sounds, words, and sentence:
(Do not make up your own words. Say & write the sounds, words, & sentence below in bold print.)
1. Sounds: /all/, /th/, /onk/
2. Words: paths, bunch, ranch, milk, swim (mark words as needed)
3. Trick Words: her, over, number
4. Sentence: Bob went over to the ranch.
*over, to, and the, are trick words and should be circled

*Reminder: Make sure all words are spelled correctly and that the sentence begins
with a capital letter and has the correct punctuation. Mark words as needed and
