To All Eighth Grade Parents and/or Guardians:

Eighth Grade End of Year Activities (EOYA) are among the best moments of your child’s middle school memories. A committee of students, teachers, and administrators has been diligently working to ensure that the culminating events of your child’s eighth grade year are both fun and memorable.

We wanted to give you ample time to begin paying the EOYA fees. You can pay the fees in installments. The first installment of at least $20 is due by January 31st. You may choose to pay more or pay the fees in total at any time. We will send a receipt home by your child. All fees must be paid in full by April 1, 2015.

Participation in events and receipt of memorabilia are set as two choices – package “A” and package “B”. Package – “A” is $100.00, and package “B” is $80.00 (see package details below). It is not possible to pick and choose events to be paid for separately; the events have been budgeted for as a package, and refunds will not be possible. Students who are serving ISS or OSS during the date of the event will not be able to attend, nor receive a refund. Payment can be made in the form of CASH or MONEY ORDER.

Scheduled Events

Eighth Grade Cookout & Field day – will be held outdoors (on campus) during the school day, May 8, 2015. The first part of the day will be spent competing in our annual field day events. In the afternoon, students will enjoy a catered cookout while enjoying social activities with classmates during this picnic-style, outdoor gathering! We have inflatables, a dunk tank, a DJ, the game truck and much more. As with general school lunch policy, students are permitted to bring their own food. As well, we advise the use of sun screen, caps/hats, and lightweight/light-colored garments. All clothing must be within school dress code policy.

Eighth Grade Dance – will be held in the school cafeteria on May 15, 2015 from 6:30p.m. - 9:30pm. This is an eighth grade dance for RMS students only; RMS students are not permitted to “invite” guests from other schools or grade levels. Consult an administrator for more details if needed. Attire – Students’ outfits are to be semi-formal in nature. This includes gracefully stylish dresses or suits for young ladies. A well-dressed young man may wear any of the following: a suit or slacks with a dress shirt – jacket and ties are optional. All dresses should be tasteful and modest. They should not reveal the mid-section, cleavage or upper thigh. Students who are not appropriately dressed will not be allowed into the dance. Attire choices should be in accordance with school dress code policy. Parents/Guardians cannot attend the dance with the students. Students must remain at school until 12:30 p.m. to be counted present on this day, although we would encourage all students to remain in school the entire day. Students who are absent on the day of the dance will NOT be permitted to attend.

Eighth Grade Awards Program – will be held on May 19, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. Attendance is by invitation only. Attire – Young ladies are asked to wear dresses or skirts. Dresses may not be strapless, halter or have see-through material. Young men are asked to wear dress shirts, slacks, belt, dress shoes and socks and a neck tie.

I look forward to a great year working with you and making precious memories….. Please feel free to email or call me with questions or concerns. Email

Sincerely,

Dear Parents,

It has become necessary that we make an addendum to our requirements for the End of the Year activities for our 8th grade students. Our focus is on academics and for our students to successfully pass their classes and all portions of the Georgia Milestone . To assist us with achieving that goal, we are reiterating with our students the rules and expectations needed in class and throughout the school building. Therefore, we have placed our 8th grade students on a demerit system for the End of the Year activities. It is our expectation that all of our students will be able to participate. Our students are encouraged to maintain appropriate behavior through the use of the demerit system. The students are asked to follow the rules, procedures, and expectations that we have established at the beginning of the year and reiterated throughout the school year. These rules and expectations are listed in writing in their agendas and Fulton County Code of Conduct booklet issued to each student. Please review these with your child.

Students may not accumulate more than 10 demerits, participate or instigate any fights, or receive ISS or OSS on the day of any event to participate in all of the events. We began utilizing the demerit system as of 3/30/2015. Please help us by encouraging your child to maintain appropriate behavior at all times and continue to complete assignments. There will be no refunds given to any student that accumulates more than 10 demerits, participates or instigates a fight, or receives ISS/OSS on the day of an event. Thank you in advance for your support!
