From the Perspective of Something
Inanimate object assignment from A Knight’s Tale film.

You have written many narratives from your point of view (important experiences in your life, future aspirations etc). In this assignment you will write another narrative story-but with a twist. You will write it from the point of view of an inanimate object (aka: something that is not alive). You will personify this object by giving it feelings, opinions and an overall perspective of the world. This includes imagery surrounding the 5 senses of this object.

Prompt: When we watch A Knight’s Tale, we will stop partway through the film. At this time, you will explain how you think the movie ends. However, you will do this through the eyes of your chosen object. You will also include an illustration of the object as a detailed and personified item.

The object you choose will be related to an item that can be found in A Knight’s Tale. Considerwho owns/handles this object, how it would feel about its use (good/evil),what it looks/sounds/smells/feels like, it’s purpose, etc.

For example: The Knight wore a tunic shirt.
Object: Tunic
Owner: Knight
Feels about use: Feels neglected since the Knight won’t wash him, feels like he deserves to be treated better since they have won so many battles together, but feels proud to help protect such a good man etc.
Purpose: Wear under armor (the Knight seems like a man with good morals-used for good)
Imagery: quality material-cotton and linen, dirty, been worn to battle, probably smells etc.
End of the film(short example-assuming the Knight wins the final joust at the end): I was the Knight’s uniform as we won the final joust. I was able to share the glory of this victory, despite the usual embarrassment of being dirty and torn.
