JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
COOK:
I. Qualifications: High school diploma, five to ten years of experience working in a food service program with at least one year in a supervisory role. Responsible for directing the food operation at the Purnell Center. Safe Serve Certification, knowledge of food preparation best practices and menu planning for preschool children required. Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor related to abuse, neglect or exploitation of children. Required to be drug free, of good character and reputation, literate, capable of performing assigned tasks, demonstrated ability to work with children, willing and capable of benefiting from training and supervision and ability to effectively communicate with children, parents, emergency and other resource and support personnel. Must be sensitive and responsive to the cultural difference of consumers and center personnel and constituents.
II. Responsibilities: Plan menus, order food and prepare meals. Directs the food service operation at the Purnell Center.
III. Duties:
A. Maintains an appropriate kitchen and dining room routine.
B. Performs daily maintenance of dining room and kitchen areas.
C. Plans, prepares and serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.
D. Plans and submits weekly food order.
E. Supervises kitchen assistant.
F. Laundries clothes.
G. Maintains inventory of housekeeping supplies.
H. Setup and prepares meals for board and committee meetings
I. Cleans exit door windows and polishes restroom stalls.
J. Other duties as assigned.
IV. Reports To: Director of Child Development Programs/Lead Teacher
V. Salary: See Location
