Friendly Letter to the Archbishop

(Confirmation Writing Assignment)

Due Date: Monday, October 29th

For this assignment you will be required to write a “Friendly Letter” to the Archbishop that discusses the following five points.

* Introduces yourself by first discussing some personal information
* Discusses what the sacrament of Confirmation means to you
* Discusses why you want to be confirmed
* Discusses which of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit that you would
like to receive. In addition, you should explain how this gift would be invaluable in your daily life.
* Discusses how you will continue to confirm your commitment to Christ in your daily life.

Requirements:

The letter must be a length of 400 – 500 words for grade eight students. You will be asked to submit the following items upon completion of this assignment:

  1. A copy of the assignment & evaluation rubric
  2. Some form of pre-writing, either a word web or jot notes
  3. A hand written rough draft of your letter
  4. Two final drafts of your letter. The first copy of the letter will be typed using a font size of 10 C.P.I. and will be double-spaced. The second copy of your letter will also be typed using 10 C.P.I.. However, it will be single spaced, as this copy will be forwarded to the Archbishop before the Confirmation date. For both copies, use a standard easy-to-read font like “Arial “or “Times New Roman”.

This assignment will be evaluated and used for a Writing mark.
