“Falling In Love With the Service of God”
St. Mary’s Ryken XaverianFaith & Works Service Program
…And the King shall say to them in reply, “Amen, I say to you whatever you did for one of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
General Service Graduation Requirements:The State of Maryland requires all high school students complete community service hours prior to graduation. SMR requires, for graduation, that each student completes a minimum number of 65hours (see program description) as follows:
Freshmen: 10 hours(due First Friday in April)
Sophomores:15 hours(due Last Friday in March)
Junior:20 hours(due last Friday in Feb)
Seniors:20 hours and a Reflection Project (due last Friday in Jan)
All students are encouraged to live out the Gospel and complete more hours than the minimum requirement. Jesus is our example of giving to others, and we know He is not a “minimalist”……a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. James 2:24
If you turn in hours (or Senior Project) after the due date:
- You will need to complete an extra 5 hours (Seniors 10 hours, and an additional4 page Reflection Paper entitled: “Procrastination: Hard work pays off after time, But Laziness always pays off Now”(and not in a good way.)Paper to be double spaced with font of 12 and 1 inch borders).
- Hours turned in after May 1st will be counted for the following year.
- You will receive an “F” that will be counted towardsbeing considered Academically Ineligible to participate in sports and all other extra-curricular activities until the hours are completed.
I have read the above requirements and will complete them accordingly.
