-Up to 10 points will be assigned each week for participation.
Simply showing up for class does not guarantee you will receive these points. Presence without participation will result in a 6/10 or a D. Participation means volunteering to answer the questions asked by the instructor.
-Preparation at home—reading the material and doing the assigned E-lab exercises—is thus essential for good performance in class.
-> No late work will be accepted unless you were absent and have an excuse.
ABSENCES
In order not to be penalized for an absence, contact the instructor as soon as possible and bring documentation (doctor’s note etc.) during the following session.
FOOD, PHONES ETC.
Food, chewing gum, and telephones are not allowed in class. We have only 3 sessions per week and I want your full attention. Place your phone in your bag—not on the table, not on your lap. If I see your telephone on the table/lap, you will receive an F in participation for that day.
Students with learning disabilities / Disability Accommodation The University of North Texas makes reasonable academic accommodation for students with disabilities. Students seeking reasonable accommodation must first register with the Office of Disability Accommodation (ODA) to verify their eligibility. If a disability is verified, the ODA will provide you with a reasonable accommodation letter to be delivered to faculty to begin a private discussion regarding your specific needs in a course. You may request reasonable accommodations at any time, however, ODA notices of reasonable accommodation should be provided as early as possible in the semester to avoid any delay in implementation. Note that students must obtain a new letter of reasonable accommodation for every semester and must meet with each faculty member prior to implementation in each class. Students are strongly encouraged to deliver letters of reasonable accommodation during faculty office hours or by appointment. Faculty members have the authority to ask students to discuss such letters during their designated office hours to protect the privacy of the student. For additional information see the Office of Disability Accommodation website athttp://www.unt.edu/oda. You may also contact them by phone at940.565.4323.
Student Behavior in the Classroom / Student behavior that interferes with an instructor’s ability to conduct a class or other students' opportunity to learn is unacceptable and disruptive and will not be tolerated in any instructional forum at UNT. Students engaging in unacceptable behavior will be directed to leave the classroom and the instructor may refer the student to the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities to consider whether the student's conduct violated the Code of Student Conduct. The university's expectations for student conduct apply to all instructional forums, including university and electronic classroom, labs, discussion groups, field trips, etc. The Code of Student Conduct can be found at www.unt.edu/csrr
Student Evaluations / The Student Evaluation of Teaching Effectiveness (SPOT) is a requirement for all organized classes at UNT. This short survey will be made available to you at the end of the semester, providing you a chance to comment on how this class is taught. I am very interested in the feedback I get from students, as I work to continually improve my teaching.

FREN 3070: course organization

Assignment of HW

The syllabus indicates the chapters that will be covered throughout the semester. The schedule as it appears on the syllabus may be modified depending on the needs of the class.

-> detailed HW assignments for each session will be given in the Study Guide uploaded into MyLab.

Homework

FREN 3070 is organized to ensure students are active learners. Your will be responsible for reading and studying the material PRIOR to coming to class using the study guides you will be given. These study guides will help you master the grammar in Contrastes in order to do the E-lab exercises assigned for each session (to be done before class starts). During class, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about topics you didn’t understand. To sum it up: students must come to class:

a. having studied the grammar assigned for HW and

b. having done the exercises in MyFRenchLab

Lack of preparation impacts active PARTICIPATION (=volunteering to answer questions) in class and will result in a 6/10 or a D in participation.

E-lab (set the time to Central Time!!!!!)

E-lab exercises assigned for each session are machine graded and worth 10 points per session. For each question you will have 3 attempts.

E-labs must be done before class begins (the deadline is 12:59pm). Past that deadline, you can still do the exercises but will receive no grade.

->you will be asked to print some of the assigned exercises (indicated in the study guides) and bring them to class to be able to give your answers.

To register enter the code for our class: ID: CRSKL4W-461004

Don’t get behind

Graded take-home exercises (in addition to the E-lab) will be assigned at the end of nearly every session. To succeed in this course, you must remain on top of things and not get behind.

->due to the numerous take-home exercises, non-excused absences will result in the loss of many points and will lower the final grade.
