· WHAT IS TANCET?
TANCET stands for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test. The Government of Tamil Nadu has authorized Anna University to conduct the exam. It is a mode of selection for admission for all post graduation professional courses, like MBA, MCA M.Tech, ME & M.Arch.
· WHY TANCET?
It is mandatory to have appeared and qualified in TANCET or CET (Common Entrance Test) to seek admission in the professional courses. Candidates who appear in TANCET and score good marks are eligible to be admitted in the Government quota through counseling
· WHEN IS THE TANCET EXAM HELD?
A TANCET exam is normally held in the last week of May and the results are declared in the second week of June. Please note that the application for the entrance exam is issued in the last week of April/first week of May. Applications may be purchased at GCT Coimbatore or one may also apply on line.
· CAN I SEEK ADMISSION PRIOR TO TANCET EXAM?
Yes. Many students do seek admission, but later one has to appear in the TANCET exam and produce the scores obtained to the management to regularize the admission as per the University norms/Government norms.
· WHAT IS THE PATTERN OF QUESTIONS IN TANCET?
The paper consists of 100 objective questions four alternate answers for MCA and mainly comprises of quantitative ability, analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, comprehension and written English, Computer awareness. The paper also has negative marking (0.20 for MCA per wrong answer)
· IS IT NECESSARY FOR ME TO HAVE COACHING?
Coaching is not compulsory, but anyone who avails coaching obviously will know the pattern of questions, the method of answering them and shortcuts and thus stands a better chance of scoring high marks.
· WHICH ARE THE INSTITUTIONS OFFERING COACHING?
A number of institutes do offer coaching but at an exorbitant cost. Some institutions just do it to familiarize their name and use this as an advertisement.
