The poor lady in the temple
Jesus was sitting in church one day.
His church was called the temple.
He watched people putting their money into the collection box.
Some very rich people came to the temple.
They put a lot of money into the collection box.
Then a very poor lady came to the temple.
She put 2p into the collection box.
She had no more to give.
Jesus said, ‘She has given more than anyone’.
His friends said, ‘How could she?
She is very poor’.
Jesus said, ‘Those rich people had a lot more money left.
The poor lady gave everything she had’.
She gave everything to God because she loved him.
Mark 12:41-44
Dear Lord,
We may not know many poor people, but we hear about them.
Some people have no food. Some have no home.
Help us to help them with our gifts
and our prayers as well as our money.
