Checklist:

  Schedule your Senior Appointment.

Submit college applications prior to Winter Break.

Obtain 4-digit PIN number and gather other information needed to complete the FAFSA.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The most important step in applying for financial aid to pay for college is to submit the FAFSA. The FAFSA asks for information about your financial situation. The information submitted on the FAFSA determines whether you’re eligible for federal aid and aid from Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) programs. The results will automatically be sent to the colleges you list on the form and KHEAA. For priority consideration, file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, 2013, at www.fafsa.gov.

Federal Student Aid PIN

You must use a 4-digit PIN number to sign/complete your FAFSA online. You can request a PIN now at www.pin.ed.gov. You will use this PIN every year you are in college to electronically sign federal loan paperwork and access other federal student aid records. Do not share your PIN with anyone.

Other Information needed to complete the FAFSA:

·  Social Security number

·  Parents’ Social Security numbers

·  Driver’s license number

·  Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

·  Federal tax information or tax returns including IRS W-2 information for yourself or parents

·  Records of untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income, and veterans non-education benefits, for you or your parents

·  Information on cash; savings and checking account balances; investments, including stocks and bonds and real estate but not including the home in which you live; and business and farm assets for you or your parents

WCHS FAFSA Workshop – Save the Date!

You are invited to attend a FAFSA workshop on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. in the WCHS Library where you will have an opportunity to learn about the process of completing the FAFSA and then get hands-on assistance completing it!
