Frank R. Noyes, MD Named to Editorial Board

New sports related medical journal will focus on clinical research and injury prevention

Cincinnati— Frank Noyes, M.D., a world-renowned knee surgeon and President and Medical Director of CincinnatiSportsMedicine & OrthopaedicCenter, has been selected to serve on the Editorial Board of Sports Health: A Multidisciplinary Approach. The journal will combine the clinical aspects of athletic care from a wide variety of specialists. The new publication aims to become the definitive source of the most up to date clinical information for all sports practitioners with a major emphasis placed on clinical research and injury prevention.
Sports Health will be developed in conjunction with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the National Athletic Trainers Association, and the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. Noyes is an internationally known and recognizedknee surgeon and expert on the diagnosis and treatment of knee injuries. Patients from around the world, across the country and close to home in Cincinnati, continue to seek Dr. Noyes’ specialized care. For the past 30 years, he has been at the forefront of the sports medicine revolution and on the cutting edge of new surgical technologies and rehab techniques that have allowed his patients, including thousands of professional and amateur athletes, to return to the field of play quickly and safely. Dr. Noyes is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the AmericanAcademy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has served on a number of editorial boards, including The American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and the Journal of Orthopaedics and Sports Physical Therapy. His accomplishments have earned him nearly every award presented in the field of orthopaedic and sports medicine research, including the Kappa Delta Award – the highest award presented by the AmericanAcademy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in the field of research..
Dr. Noyes is regularly consulted by the national and local media for his expertise on the understanding and prevention of serious knee injuries in female athletes. In conjunction with a team of athletic trainers, physical therapists and researchers, he developed Sportsmetrics™, the first training program scientifically proven to decrease serious knee ligament injuries in female athletes. The Sportsmetrics™ program has been featured in national and international media, including the New York Times, ESPN Wide World of Sports, Health, and on Good Morning America
Dr. Noyes is the former medical director for the University of Cincinnati athletic teams, former chairman of the United States Soccer Federation's Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and former team physician for the Cincinnati Bengals.
