The purpose of the FRAMINGHAM JR FLYER LACROSSE, Inc. (the “Member”) shall be to carry out the charitable purposes of the Framingham JR Flyer Lacrosse, a Massachusetts charitable organization and any successor organization thereto, and to provide fundraising support to the Member, whose purpose is to foster and assist in the development of youth athletic activities and to promote and encourage social, civil, and educational and athletic activities, and to develop and promote youth lacrosse in Framingham.

Descriptions:

Members of the Board of Directors use their knowledge and experience to oversee and guide Framingham Youth Lacrosse (A.K.A. Framingham Jr. Flyer Lacrosse, Inc.). The board ensures that all the activities, obligations, and resources needed to function as a youth sport organization are met. The board has ten scheduled meetings per year plus other special meetings as the need arise. Board members are the primary recruiters of coaches, volunteers, and sponsors. Board members are asked to commit to a full year term and attend a minimum of 80% of board meetings.

Coaches and assistant coaches are the face of the program to the players and parents. Coaches:

  • schedule and run practices
  • coach games
  • communicate with parents, players, volunteers and the board
  • assist in fund raising
  • make recommendations to the board to improve the program

Coaches are asked to commit to a full spring season (mid-March through mid-June).

Other volunteers in addition to board members and coaches are needed to accomplish the many tasks needed to run a successful youth sports organization. Some (but not all) of the tasks include:

  • Registering Players and Teams
  • Scheduling fields for practice and games
  • Ordering and distributing uniforms and equipment
  • Organizing team and Program outings
  • Liaisons with affiliated leagues
  • Fundraising and sponsorship recruitment
  • Communications with players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, the community

Some volunteer positions include:

  • Team parent
  • Equipment manager
  • Apparel / merchandise manager
  • Webmaster

Volunteer commitments can be from one day to a year long commitment.
