FOUR CENTURIES IN A WEEKEND…A Journey Through Union County’s History is a free annual public history event held on the third weekend of October, National Arts and Humanities Month. The Weekend showcases twenty-five historic house museums and sites located throughout Union County. FOUR CENTURIES 2007 is on Saturday, October 20th (10:00-5:00) and Sunday, October 21st (noon-5:00).

The Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs is pleased to offer the second commemorative patch is a series of five of the Union County Scout Patch Program. By fulfilling requirements of the Program, Scouts will receive a Union County Time Traveler Certificate and be eligible to purchase a Four Centuries Patch for $1.50. If you missed last year’s commemorative patch, you can also order one. All this, in addition to learning about Union County history.

The requirements for each Scout are:

·  Visit three Four Centuries sites and have the Passport stamped at each site

·  Complete the “What I Learned” section of the Passport for each site

·  Complete the corresponding site pages in the Activity Book or Word Games and Brain Teaser Book (for older Scouts)

If you are unable to go to Four Centuries 2007, you may contact individual sites directly to schedule a field trip and complete the Program requirements then. The deadline to complete the 2007 Patch Program is August 31, 2008.
