What were homes like a long time ago?
What sorts of homes do people live in today?
Show the children pictures of different sorts of homes. Which are like your home? Which are different? Encourage them to talk about homes they are familiar with. Why do people live in different sorts of homes? Chn to draw a picture of their house and write about key features of the house.
Computing- Week 5 Term 2.
Use program 2Simple 2Go town screen. Discuss algorithms and what movements will need to be made in order for the car to reach different destinations. / Music – PPA cover

Homes.
Are homes and houses different around the world (igloos, nomadic structures)?
Children to look at the template for a house, discuss the shapes they can see. Cut the shapes out and create a house. Stick onto card and label the different shapes. Draw a background for the house e.g. garden etc. / PSHE and RE
No lesson due to Inset Days. / P.E. - Game Activities
Use basic underarm throwing and knowledge of hitting a ball with a bat to begin to play a simple version of rounders. Practise throwing underarm to a partner and practice hitting the ball with a bat.

What were homes like a long time ago?
What can we find out from the outside of homes?
Take the children to look at homes near the school. Help them to recognise common features by asking them to look for what is the same and what is different about the homes. Encourage them to talk about what the homes are built from, details of the windows, doors, chimneys, etc.
Ask the children to draw one of the homes, showing everything they can recognise.
Computing- Week 6 Term 2.
Discuss in more depth what an algorithm is and why we use this word. Children to record a program they will use on paper and test their idea. Discuss other ways we use sequences e.g. school routines etc. / Music – PPA cover

Homes.
Explain how designers use models to communicate their ideas to others and develop their design.
Ask the children to build a room of their choice from given materials and add appropriate furniture and fittings e.g. rug from material etc. / PSHE
Relationships.
Knowing myself-
Children to discuss in key worker groups the following:
I know the people who are important to me.
I can tell when I feel cared for.
I can tell when I love or care for someone.
Make notes under each of these heading with each child adding a comment. / P.E. - Game Activities
Children to build on previous knowledge of throwing and hitting the ball to play a full-length game of rounders. Split into two teams and explain the rules to the children fully ensuring they understand the concept of the game.

What were homes like a long time ago?
How were homes long ago different from homes today?
Show children pictures of Victorian or Edwardian homes. Using the knowledge they have developed through the previous activity, ask the children to identify the key features they can see. What is different about this home from modern homes? Is it made from the same material? Are the windows the same shape? How do they open and close? What is different about the front door?
Computing- Week 7 Term 2.
Discuss the term ‘debugging’ show instructions that will move the car on 2Go. Input a wrong instruction and ask children to solve what has gone wrong? Can the children work with a partner to write instructions containing a ‘bug’. / Music – PPA cover

Homes.
Discuss the different buildings seen and encourage the children to think about the sort of home they might make. Who it is for? What do they need? What might it be like?
Children to draw a plan of their home and write what they will include within the home, what colours they are going to use and what techniques they are going to use to stick the pieces together. / PSHE
Relationships.
Understanding my feelings-
Children to discuss in key worker groups the following:
I can tell you something that has made me jealous.
I can tell when I feel jealous.
I understand that being unkind and hurting someone doesn't make me feel better.
I can tell you how I feel when I lose someone or something I care about.
Make notes under each of these heading with each child adding a comment.
RE – How do we celebrate our journey through life?
Discuss how do people celebrate the important events in their lives? (Birth, naming ceremonies, coming of age, joining a group, marriage, death)
Produce a mind map of these events and ways in which they can be celebrated. / P.E. - Game Activities
Use previous knowledge of throwing and hitting a ball to learn the rules to a game of Qwik Cricket.
Children will participate in a game of Qwik Cricket, splitting into two teams and taking it in turns to bat and bowl.

What would we find inside people's homes a long time ago?
Identify the rooms in a home from long ago.
Describe, using appropriate vocabulary, features, furniture and household objects from homes from long ago.
Computing- Week 8 Term 2.
Introduce Greenscreen to the children. Explain they will be working to produce a short film to link with the history topic of homes long ago. Show example to children and explain the equipment they will have to use in order to produce the film. / Music – PPA cover

Discuss the different buildings seen and encourage the children to think about the plans they have made to build their own home.
Show the children the materials available and ask them to discuss their ideas. How could we do this?
Ask the children to select their materials and join and combine them to construct a home choosing appropriate techniques. / PSHE

Discuss how do members of a religious faith celebrate these milestones in the journey of life?
Focus on Christianity and Hinduism. / P.E. - Game Activities
Introduce the game Tag Rugby.
Split the children into two teams, one set are taggers and the others will wear a coloured bib tucked in. The children have to run across the field to get to a destination without a tagger pulling their colour from them. If they loose there tag they have to sit out.

Growing Plants
Take children for a walk around the local area to observe the plants/flowers they can see growing.
Name some plants found around the school e.g. daisy, dandelion and name groups of plants e.g. trees, grass, pondweed, moss.
Describe orally, by drawing or in simple writing, what the plants are like e.g. trees are tall and have thick branches, dandelions have yellow flowers and green leaves and where they can grow e.g. there is grass in the path cracks.
Recognise when plants should not be pulled up.
Computing- Week 9 Term 2.
A continuation of previous computing session. Children will continue to work on their films and begin filming the project ready to be viewed. / Music – PPA cover
Art- Unit 1C
Sculpture.
Explain what a sculpture does and how they work with materials.
Talk about the sculpture of the Willow Man and who the sculpture for this piece of Art is.
Ask the children why they think it’s a good idea to use natural materials.
Children to produce a mind map of all the different materials people can use to make sculptures and why they may use each of the materials.
(Have a collection of materials available for children to see and touch) / PSHE
Relationships.
Understanding the feelings of others-
Children to discuss in key worker groups the following:
I understand that if someone leaves me they might still love me.
I understand that people have to make hard choices and sometimes they have no choice.

Discuss:
What artefacts, symbols and ceremonies are used at significant times?
Why are some times in life significant or special?
Link to religions Christianity and Hinduism. / P.E. - Game Activities
Ask the children what their favourite games activity has been? What have they enjoyed the most and why?
Ask children to vote on which game they would like to play again.

Growing Plants
Show children plants or pictures of plants e.g. apple trees, tomato plants, sweetcorn, cabbages and ask them why it is important for humans to grow plants.
Children to write down a list/paragraph of reasons why we need to grow plants and produce a separate list of things we need to do in order to ensure a plant will grow. This will link to growing plants ourselves after the holidays. / Music – PPA cover
Art- Unit 1C
Sculpture
Go on a visit to the local area to collect natural materials to build own sculptures/collages.
Whilst there Ask the children to work in pairs and to look for 'natural' sculptures, e.g. plant, earth or rock formations of any size or scale.
Ask them to make sketches and notes and, if possible, take photographs of these sculptures. Ask them to notice: How is the 'sculpture' arranged? What materials are used? What shaped it? What effect did wind, weather, animals have on it? / PSHE
