Dear Supermileage®team:

Earlier in the month, Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologiescontacted you about an opportunity to use the company’s customer-engineered, low friction crankshaft seals in your vehicle. By installing these Energy Saving Seals (ESS) in your vehicle’s engine, you can realize a 57 percent reduction in crankshaft friction. Our company is supplying the seals and installation instructions free of charge to any team that requests them.

Now we are offering those teams that use the ESS components an additional engineering opportunity.

As part of its participation in the 2014 Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars (CAR MBS) in Traverse City, Michigan in August, Freudenberg-NOK will sponsor two members of the winning Supermileage team at this industry-defining automotive event.

For nearly 50 years, the CAR MBS has delivered thought leadership on the most important issues facing the automotive industry. Last year, nearly 1,000 industry executives, academic scholars and media representatives attended the four-day conference. Torsten Maschke, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies’ President of Automotive Sales and Marketing, will be a featured speaker at the Aug. 4-7 event.

If your team uses Freudenberg-NOK’s ESS crankshaft seals and your vehicle wins the Supermileage challenge in June, you will invited to select two team members to participate in the CAR MBS student program as our guests.

The CAR MBS student program offers undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry with invaluable networking and learning opportunities. Student participating in the CAR MBS program will:

  • Attend key conference presentations.
  • Be introduced to an industry that provides a prospective career path.
  • Network with speakers and participants, for references and future job opportunities.
  • Have round-table discussions with industry executive leaders and conference speakers.
  • Relate the methods and theories learned in academic classes to real industry issues.

Freudenberg-NOK will pay transportation, accommodation and program registration expenses for your two team members. Additionally, the company has received permission to display your winning Supermileage vehicle at the conference and will work with your team to transport the car to and from the Traverse City and to participate in media interviews about your winning efforts. Students will be provided with:

  • Full-conference Registration (August 4-7, 2014)
  • Orientation upon arrival (Sunday, August 3)
  • Lodging (based on double occupancy with another student)
  • Meals - Continental breakfast and lunch each day at the conference; social hours hosted Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings; and dinner will be provided during the Sunday evening orientation and Wednesday evening. Any additional meals will be at the student's own expense.

So if you were on the fence about grabbing Freudenberg-NOK’s ESS crankshaft seals to install in your vehicle, don’t wait any longer. Not only with the seals improve your chances of winning the race, but they may also be your ticket to attending one of the most important annual automotive industry conferences taking place in North America.

Best wishes for a great performance!
