ZIONSVILLE FALL FESTIVAL PARADE

September 9th, 2017

Help us kick off the Lions Fall Festival with our annual parade. The community event that is always fun for the kids and for the rest of us who are still kids at heart.

We are looking for interesting, exciting, fun entrants for our parade. Our theme of "PIRATES" gives you a bunch ofpossibilities to celebrate and have a barrel of fun. Think of swashbuckling buccaneers, pretty serving wenches, buried treasure. OR forget our theme and have your entry be about something important to your organization. OR forget a theme and just come march with your group for the fun of it. .

We look forward to a great parade and to having you with us.

Enclosed is an entry form for the parade. Please complete and return the entry form portion at your earliest convenience, we need the information to organize the parade and order of march.

PLEASE NOTE: THE PARADE WILL STEP OFF at 10:00 AM, (A CHANGE FROM PRIOR YEARS. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR GROUP IS AT THE LINEUP AREA ON TIME (8:00-9:00am).

If you have any questions, call or e-mail

Sincerely,

George Tikijian

Some Do's and Don'ts and Helpful Hints

The parade lines up in the school bus pickup/drop-off area along Mulberry Street, in front of the Zionsville High School and Educational Services Building. Please get there between 8:00 and 9:00 am, this is especially important if you have a vehicle or float in the parade. We will email you with your assigned entry driveway and lineup location, a few days before the parade. Please make sure your entire group gets this info.

Do not throw candy or souvenirs, walk alongside your entry and hand them out or you will be subject to ejection from the parade!

Please do not pull into the lineup area to drop off marchers. Vehicles not in the parade should enter and exit the High School parking lot from Hal Sharpe Rd. There are children, marchers, floats, and parade vehicles we are trying to sort out and organize; it will be faster, safer, and helpful to avoid the lineup area with a non-parade vehicle. Use car pools and vans, when possible, to reduce the number of vehicles bringing participants

The High School will have doors open so marchers can use the restrooms.

Once your float, vehicle and/or marchers are set and in place, have fun and visit around. But please always have someone remain with the float or vehicle so that we can move it as we need to make adjustments. We step off at 10:00 am precisely(a bit different than prior years), please have everyone back and ready to go by 9:45am.

If you have a problem or a question, look for the guy or gal in a Lions shirt.

Float judging occurs in the lineup area, so look your best.

In the unlikely event of a weather cancellation, it will be announced on the Zionsville Lions web and Facebook pages. There will be no rain makeup date.

The parade route is 1.2 miles, if it is a hot day you might want to bring some water; there are fountains in the high school.

HAVE FUN AND ENJOY YOURSELVES.
