Narrative Therapy

on

Friday 31st March, 2017

10.00 am to 4.00 pm

at

Sunstone Centre, Hope House Children's Hospice, Nr. Oswestry

Narrative Therapy is an approach that can be used with individuals, families, groups and communities. It draws on the work of social anthropology and is located within a social constructionist perspective. It was first developed in Australia and has been gaining popularity in this country over the last two decades.

This workshop will provide an introduction to the ideas and practices of Narrative Therapy, approaching it through the lens of working with the effects of trauma.

There will be a systematic account of the assumptions and understandings that lie behind the approach, as well as an introduction to some of the practices.

There will be case vignettes, experiential practice, didactic input, and plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion.

Workshop Facilitator, Hugh Fox, says:

I practiced as a social worker in the 70s and 80s before working as a family therapist in CAMHS until retirement from the NHS in 2010. For many years I have also worked part-time as a private consultant. In 2009 I co-founded the Institute of Narrative Therapy ( of which I am a Director and member of teaching faculty. The Institute provides a Diploma programme in Narrative Therapy. I also frequently teach abroad, linking with narrative communities from Russia to Palestine.

I live in Derbyshire with my partner Anita. I have two grandchildren who live within 10 miles and I have a large garden where I indulge a passion I learned from my mother. Although considering myself semi-retired I find myself as busy as ever!

There will be a bookstall, so please do bring any therapy books you no longer need.

Refreshments will be provided but please bring your own packed lunch.

COST: £40.00 for FORUM members and students, £60.00 for non-members.
