Food Tracker:

Food Tracker may be used to help you estimate and determine the nutritional data from a given standardized recipe. On the Supertracker homepage, select “Food Tracker.”

This example will showcase ingredients from a Home-style Meatloaf recipe, courtesy of Denver Public Schools Food and Nutrition Service.

2 2/3 cup tomato catsup / 1 cup water / 5 large eggs / 14.5 ounces USDA oats
2.25 ounces USDA nonfat dry milk / 9 ounces yellow onions, diced / ¼ cup parsley / 1 Tablespoon black pepper
1 Tablespoon garlic powder / ¾ teaspoon basil / ¾ teaspoon oregano, ground / 1 teaspoon salt
4.22 pounds USDA ground beef, raw / 4.47 pounds ground turkey, raw / *Yields 50 servings*

1.  After selecting Food Tracker you will see the following picture within the page:

2.  Search for the food item and select the “Go Button.” Then find the food you will be using within the Search Results: For example, the recipe calls for 5 eggs. Search “Eggs.” You may add the form of the food by adding a comma and then the form used. This example calls for raw eggs in the ingredients; therefore, “eggs, raw” is the appropriate search term.

¨  Select the Egg, raw and the following screen will appear:

3.  Choose the amount of food you need for the recipe, in the appropriate quantity, and “Add” the food to the selected meal time. Five large eggs are needed for this lunch recipe. Notice that the amount is limited to four eggs at a time. You will need to add four eggs; then select “See food again” and add one more large egg. Depending on the recipe, you may also need to convert weight to cups (oats in this example: 14.5 oz oats = 4.57 cups)

4.  Repeat these steps for all ingredients in the recipe. The calories and nutritional data will populate. You can divide the nutrient information by the yield per recipe to determine the nutritional value per serving size. This needs to be done only for calories and saturated fat.

Calculating calorie and saturated fat contribution for a standardized recipe:

*11015 calories / 50 servings = 220 calories/serving*

*197g saturated fat / 50 servings = 4 g saturated fat/serving*
