Adoption Terms and Conditions

  1. The Adopter must be an adult of legal age to sign the release forms and accept responsibility for the cat and must be willing to present a valid drivers license, if requested.
  2. Unless pre-approved by the HSFC-FCP Chair/Co-Chair:
  3. Due to the high incidence of behavioral problems associated with declawing, HSFC-FCP cats MAY NOT BE DECLAWED. If any cat is declawed after the adoption the HSFC-FCP has the right to remove the cat from the Adopter.
  4. The adopter agrees to not relinquish this cat to any other shelter, society or person other than the HSFC-FCP.
  5. No cat may be adopted as a gift unless the recipient is related to and living in the same household as the Adopter, in which case the Adopter assumes full responsibility for the pet .
  6. No cat will be adopted to anyone deemed by the person fostering the animal or other member of the HSFC-FCP staff to be unsuitable or unable to provide a satisfactory, permanent home.
  7. No veterinary expenses will be incurred by the HSFC-FCP after the adoption date unless pre-approved by the HSFC-FCP Chair/Co-Chair.
  8. No cat will be adopted to anyone wanting strictly an outside cat.
  9. HSFC-FCP reserves the right to conduct on-site inspections of the Adopter’s premises and to retrieve the cat if conditions so warrant. In case of such action, the Chair/Co-Chair will notify the Adopter in writing at the address provided by the Adopter.
  10. The Adopter may return the cat for any reason, provided that they return all health records and other forms issued for a full refund of the adoption fee within seven (7) calendar days of the adoption date. Thereafter, no refunds will be made but the HSFC-FCP will accept return of the cat.
  11. HSFC-FCP cats have been checked by a licensed veterinarian, are current on shots, deworming, spay/neuter based on age at adoption with exception of the FIV/FeLuk combo test which is not done by the HSFC-FCP. While everything possible has been done to assure each cat is healthy, there are no guarantees. If any signs of sickness occur within seven (7) calendar days the Adopter should contact the HSFC-FCP immediately, unless the Adopter is willing to have the cat treated at their own expense. The HSFC-FCP is not liable for any other animal becoming sick as a result of the adopted cat, for any adopted cat becoming sick outside the seven (7) day period or failure to properly notify within the seven (7) day period.
  12. Should the cat become lost the Adopter should notify the HSFC-FCP Chair/Co-Chair within seventy-two (72) hours and report the date, time, location and situation of the cat becoming missing.
