Former Scramble Champions, U.S. Senior Open participant

Floridians Jess Dinesen and Jason Stuart of Naples, players with more than your share of national championship experience in team events, will be among the164 participants in this year’s inaugural PGA McGladrey Team Championship, Sept. 10-12, at Pinehurst (N.C.) Resort.

Dinesen and Stuart, representing the South Florida PGA Section Champion team, were part of teams that captured titles in the former Oldsmobile Scramble National Championship.

They willbe among other contenders for team honorsthat include 2007 U.S. Senior Open qualifier Chris Dachisen of Warren, N.J., a member of the New Jersey PGA Section.

Dinesen enjoyed a rarity in amateur golf, competing on two consecutive national championship teams in the former Oldsmobile Scramble National Championship at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. He was a member of Hibiscus Golf Club’s 1996 Gross Division championship team, and in 1997, returned as a member of the Net Division championship team.

Stuart was a member of Hibiscus Golf Club’s 1996 Gross Division champion team.

Dachisen, a 10-time major winner in the New Jersey PGA Section and a New Jersey PGA Hall of Fame member,made the cut in the 2007 U.S. Senior Open, his first qualifying attempt inthe championship.

In qualifying, Dachisen posted a 72 at Woodway Country Club in Darien, Conn., and won a spot in a four-man playoff for two spots. He finished 60th in the U.S. Senior Open.

The PGA McGladrey Team Championship is the first grassroots best-ball championship conducted by The PGA of America. World-renowned Pinehurst Resort will host the National Championship field on Courses No. 2, 6, and 8.

Additionally, Masters Champion Zach Johnson and former Ryder Cup teammate Chris DiMarco will be on site Sept. 10, to greet the national championship teams. Johnson and DiMarco are members of “Team McGladrey,” joining in support of the inaugural event.
