PURPOSE OF JOB / To co-ordinate Careers and Work Related Learning in the school
Duties and responsibilities / The postholder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities within the spirit of the school’s policies and procedures, in particular policies on Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding Children and Young People and Health and Safety and also, within the framework of the Education Act 1996 and Employment Law, with particular regard to the statutory responsibilities of the Governing Bodies of schools.
Specific responsibilities / WORK RELATED LEARNING CO-ORDINATION
  • To lead and manage the work experience day release programme for KS4 students, including
  • To attend VSP meetings
  • To support Y9 students in the Options process
  • To allocate alternative curriculum placements
  • To carry out weekly work placement visits
  • To lead work related learning activities
  • To report to SLT on the budgetary implications of placements
  • To attend multi-agency meetings
  • To co-ordinate the Take your Child to work day for Y7 students
CAREERS
  • To manage careers guidance in liaison with the Sheffield Futures Careers Advisor
  • To manage the Apply Sheffield applications
  • To manage the ILP process
  • To manage the Careers Library and student inductions
  • To manage the Post 16 Evening and Route 16 Event
  • To liaise with post 16 Institutions
  • To attend Careers Network meetings
  • To manage IAG student drop-in sessions
GENERAL
To act as an assistant tutor under the supervision of a lead tutor as part of the school’s vertical tutoring system, providing particular support for students in a vertical tutor group ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • To undertake recognised training as necessary in accordance with a planned programme of development.
  • To ensure a healthy and safe working environment and compliance with healthy and safe working practices.
  • Keep work places, store areas clean and tidy.
  • Assist with distribution of goods and equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment is kept clean and in good condition.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade and role
