“For Love Of The Game Series” TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. Coed 6 & 4 format, no more than 6 males defensively, minimum 4 females defensively. Static lineups only. No more than 2 males may bat consecutively. 3 courtesy runners per game, male for male, female for female. Male pitcher – male or female catcher, female pitcher – male catcher, males use 12 inch ball, females use 11 inch ball.
  2. Unlimited defense. Tagging of runner is permitted everywhere, Commitment line 22 feet from home and scoring line at home. Teams must start and end game with a minimum of 10 batters. If as an example a team starts with 12, they may finish with 10, the two vacated spots would be an auto out. There is unlimited defense, anyone on your lineup card my play defensively whether batting or not.
  3. Mercy rule is 20 after 3, 15 after 4 and 10 after 5 or more. Home team does not bat if leading going into bottom of last inning. Maximum of + 7 runs will be awarded for plus/minus standings. Mercy and time limit apply to all games.
  4. Round robin play - no new inning after 55 minutes.Playoff round - no new inning after 65 minutes. MERCY RULE APPLYS TO ALL GAMES.All Games are Double Coin toss for Home Advantage
  5. Home run rule: Coed 2 and up 1, Men’s 3 & 1 up, Women’s, no home run limit.
  6. Winning team has 15 minutes after end of game to bring completed lineup card to HQ, failure to do so will result in a double forfeit score of -7 for both teams. (unless playing back to back games)
  7. Teams must be ready to play, with lineup card completed, 15 minutes prior to scheduled game start time in case previous game ends early. Failure to do so will result in forfeit (umpires discretion) Game times are as per Umpires watch. Any team playing back to back games will be given time to go from one diamond to the next diamond.
  8. Teams may protest a rule interpretation and ineligible players only and must follow NSA Canada protest rule in order to be eligible.
  9. An Automatic TEAM ejection will apply to any team caught with alcohol outside of the licensed area.
  10. Automatic player and coach ejection will apply to any incident involving use of alteredequipment.
  11. Ties will stand in round robin play. All playoff games must have a winner, so at end of regulation time or 7 innings (whichever comes first) the international tie breaker will apply (last batter at second base with 1 out) this will continue until a winner emerges.
  12. Force at home, Catcher must use home plate for force or tag runner before scoring line(board is for strikes only and is not live).
  13. Tie breaker for end of round robin play will be determined by the following criteria.
  1. Total points (wins beat ties)
  2. Head to head (if 2 teams tied)
  3. +/- (more than 2 teams tied)
  4. Total runs against
  5. Total runs for
  6. True +/-
  7. Runs against per inning played
  8. Runs for per inning played
  1. Note: A team may contain 1 player from 2 divisions higher than team ranking OR 2 players from 1 division higher than team ranking only. I.e. “E” team may have 1 “c” player OR 2 D players, everyone else must be at team ranking or below. Automatic team ejections will result in use of ineligible players with NO compensation; it is the coach’s responsibility to know his / her roster and make sure they apply for the correct division.

Effect, no “A” player may play lower than C and no “B” player may play lower than “D” under any circumstances.

  1. ALL players must be entered on the NSA Canada “player classification” and entered at the highest level played in the last 3 years in ANY Association, anyone not registered or registered in an incorrect level of play will be ineligible to play and subject to team ejection from the tournament.

Get your players to fill it out NOW, if they forget or never get around to it, it could cost your team a win and a player as they would be deemed to be an illegal player as per NSA rule book, # 4 hitter is ejected along with the coach for the remainder of the tournament.

  1. Outfielders CAN throw to First. There is no outfield “line” only “rover/4th outfielder may start on infield cut out.
  2. NOTE: ALL BATS USED IN ALL OUR TOURNAMENTS MUST BE COMPRESSION TESTED BEFORE THEY WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE USED. PLEASE ALLOW TIME TO GET THIS DONE AT HQ BEFORE YOUR FIRST GAME. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE AND HELPS PROTECT OUR PLAYERS AND THE INGEGRITY OF THE GAME. Only non-banned ASA 2004, USSSA Thumprint and NSA 3D logo bats may be used.
  3. NO abuse of officials, umpires, staff, other players etc will be tolerated in any way shape or form. ZERO tolerance!! Abuse or foul language is included, there will be no warnings, and ejection from any game will result in a minimum of 1 additional game suspension. Depending on severity, additional suspension may be applied. Any ejection is an automatic suspension from next game.
  4. NOTE: Players can only play for 1 team in the tournamenti.e. 2 different coed teams etc. Players MAY play for men’s and coed or women’s and coed.
  5. NOTE: Tournament convenor reserves the right to promote or demote teams from one division to another at ANY time, if it appears to the convenor that a team has applied for an improper division and to protect the integrity of the game.
  6. All teams MUST come to HQ before and after each game to verify next game time as weather and extra-inning games could affect future game times or locations.
