Build your letter

You could start with:

Hello …

How are you ? I hope everything is O.K. there. In your last email you told me about….. ( tell your partner something you found really amazing)

This time, I'll tell you about the things I like doing in my spare time and during the weekends.

Use these next questions to build your letter:

  • What do you like doing best in your spare time?
  • Do you often go out with your friends?
  • What is your favourite sport?
  • Is this sport popular in your country?
  • How much time do you spend on your sport?
  • Who is your favourite sportsman or -woman, from your country?
  • Who is your favourite sportsman or -woman, from outside yourcountry?
  • Do you often go out in the evenings?
  • What kind of music do you like?
  • Is music important to you? Why ?
  • Who is your favourite singer or/and band?
  • What kind of music do most people in your class like?
  • What is the best song that you know?

Hint 4

If your partner knows what you collect he/she might send you something to add to your collection or you should send something to him or her.

If your partner does not know the band or singer you like, why not send him/her a cassette of your favourite music?

Now that you have finished your letter you can search information (also through the internet) about your favourite singer, sportsman, actor and rewrite them in the form of an interview pretending to be a journalist. If you choose people famous in your country, it could be interesting for your partner to read about them.

If you have recently read a book (or watched a film at the cinema) and liked it, you could write a short summary and your opinions about it. You can suggest it to your partner and find out if there are translations of the same book or the same films in the different countries.

If you spend a lot of time watching TV, you could present your favourite programme to your partner and also send a short video-clip recorded with a video-recorder through the snail mail.
