Fourteen Porter Wright Attorneys Recognized as “Rising Stars”

Columbus, OH – August 2, 2005 – The publishers of Law & Politics and Super Lawyers recently announced the 2005 “Rising Stars” list for Ohio. The nomination process begins with Super Lawyers voting for the “best up-and-coming lawyers they had personally observed in action.” Each nominated attorney was given a score based on the numbers and types of votes received (votes received from attorneys in other firms were awarded more points than votes from same-firm attorneys). Final points were categorized by firm size and the top attorneys from each category were identified as Ohio Rising Stars.

Ann M. Caresani (Cleveland) has considerable experience working with employers in the design and administration of their employee benefit programs. She also provides guidance regarding retirement plans; health, disability, severance and other fringe and welfare benefit plans; and executive compensation.

Natalie H. Rauf (Cleveland) represents clients in the areas of finance & commerce, including commercial transactions and loan financing, as well as in real estate law, including acquisitions, mortgages and sale/leasebacks, and title insurance.

Tracey L. Turnbull (Cleveland) has considerable experience in all phases of discovery and motion practice in a variety of complex civil litigation and has experience in both state and federal courts. She focuses on commercial disputes, employment, and product liability litigation.

Scott E. Baughman (Columbus) is an attorney in the firm's Government Affairs Practice Group and has concentrated his practice on legislative and executive advocacy.

Craig R. Carlson (Columbus) devotes a significant portion of his practice to the defense of life insurers regarding issues such as death benefit and bad faith claims. Additionally, he represents clients in a wide variety of complex business and commercial cases. He also represents public utilities and transportation companies in significant injury and other types of civil litigation.

Katerina M. Eftimoff (Columbus) works primarily on Clean Air Act permitting and enforcement matters, in particular, Title V permitting issues. She has also been active in several Superfund cases and is well versed on matters of cost recovery under sections 107 and 113 of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Additionally, she has experience with regulation under the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA).

Marc L. Fleischauer (Columbus) advocates for employers in wrongful discharge and discrimination litigation, labor arbitrations, and representation before administrative agencies. He has diverse experience defending claims brought under discrimination laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, unfair competition law, and traditional labor law.

James B. Hadden (Columbus) is a litigator who practices primarily in federal court focusing on securities, commercial and product liability litigation.

Eric J. Plinke (Columbus) counselsclientsin the areas of corporate and health care law,including practice formation and acquisition, licensure and regulatory investigations, peer review and medical staff issues, contract review and preparation,HIPAA privacy regulations, andhealth care fraud and abuselaws. His litigation experience includes administrativehearings and appeals, medical malpractice and professional negligence, HMO liability and health care provider disputes.

Robert J. Schmidt, Jr. (Columbus) practices in the area of environmental law, specifically federal and state programs regulating surface water, hazardous waste and solid waste. Mr. Schmidtalso regularly deals with remediation projects,including underground storage tank issues and CERCLA actions.Mr. Schmidt's practice also includes land use and zoning. Mr. Schmidt also has experience with building and fire code compliance and enforcement, emergency planning and community right-to-know, and environmental issues related to agriculture.

Erin Freund Siegfried (Columbus) practices in the areas of general corporate and securities law. Siegfried represents clients on general corporate matters and business transactions, securities registrations, ongoing federal and state securities reporting and compliance, stock exchange compliance, executive compensation, corporate governance matters, and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, she has represented clients in venture capital and other private placements of securities.

M. Todd Taylor (Columbus) focuses his practice on international business, primarily in France, the European Union and francophone Africa. He has represented international nongovernmental organizations in various capacities. Additionally, Taylor handles a wide range of domestic corporate issues, including mergers and acquisitions and securities..

Christine S. Wheatley’s (Cincinnati) practice includes corporate law, securities, and mergers and acquisitions. She represents a range of privately held and publicly traded sellers and purchasers and also has experience in venture capital transactions as well as securities compliance and periodic disclosure requirements.

Caroline H. Gentry (Dayton) represents clients in a variety of state and federal courts and agencies in commercial litigation disputes, including disputes involving false advertising, intellectual property, ERISA, breach of contract, unfair competition and class actions.
