PUMA LAUNCHES ACTV AND RCVR PERFORMANCE BODYWEAR WITH BUILT-IN TAPING AND ENHANCED COMPRESSION

HERZOGENAURACH, GERMANY (February 6, 2013) – Today, global sportlifestyle brand PUMA unveiled two new premium product innovations in training apparel; PUMA ACTV and PUMA RCVR. PUMA ACTV and RCVR take performance wear to the next level through the first-to-market use of both athletic taping and enhanced compression within the garments. PUMA ACTV has this week been given the sports industry quality seal and has been awarded the ISPO Gold Award in the performance segment Compression Apparel category.

PUMA ACTV

Grounded in the principle of athletic taping in which strips of fabric are placed directly onto an athlete’s skin in specific patterns intended to help with muscle support, PUMA’s latest range of training tights, shorts and tops goes one step further with PUMA tape built directly into the garments. During workouts, the innovative garments are designed to work with the body, helping maximize muscle power. PUMA ACTV fuses the benefits of compression technology with athletic taping in order to create an easy-to-use performance offering.

With PUMA ACTV, elasticized silicone tape is strategically placed on the inside of the garments to provide micro-massage in specific areas to the skin, which may help enable a faster and more effective energy supply to the muscles.

“While compression apparel has been shown to reduce muscle vibration and promoting faster recovery, PUMA ACTV’s enhanced compression takes the notion of compression apparel one step further, offering enhanced compression coupled with the built-in

athletic taping system for maximum benefit,” explains Thorsten Krauss, Global Head of Product Line Management & Merchandising Performance Apparel.

In addition to the technical qualities in the PUMA ACVR range, the performance wear also includes additional running-specific, practical and aesthetic features including; reflective logos for visibility, mesh panels for breathability, zippered side pockets for convenience, and dryCELL for wicking and comfort. By incorporating PUMA’s advanced dryCELL technology, PUMA ACTV apparel effectively manages an athlete’s moisture, by using highly functional materials that draw sweat away from the skin, and help keep the wearer dry and comfortable.

PUMA RCVR

PUMA has also launched a new Performance Bodywear product--PUMA RCVR--designed to help maximize recovery post workout. PUMA RCVR fuses the recovery benefits of targeted advanced compression with athletic taping to help work with the body’s natural systems and support the most fatigued muscles.

PUMA RCVR apparel also includes the added benefit of dryCELL technology to aid wicking of sweat, adding better comfort following an intense session.

PUMA Performance Bodywear come in three levels; Light Compression, Medium

Compression and Advanced Compression. For Spring / Summer 2013, PUMA ACTV can be found in Men’s and Women’s Running, Men’s and Women’s Performance BodyWear and Bolt Performance product collections.
