Dallas Animal Services partners with Finding Rover to launch a new system that will help identify lost and found dogs with facial recognition technology

What: Finding Rover is a free service for identifying lost and found dogs in real-time with facial recognition technology. This smart phone application is a state of the art technology that will enable anyone to instantly identify missing dogs by simply taking a photo of the dog. The facial recognition technology enables the photo matching capability which has proven to be 98% successful. The launching of Finding Rover by Dallas Animal Services is the first of its kind in North Texas. The system was developed by John Polimeno, whose idea came while he was sitting at a coffee shop looking at the lost dog posters pinned to a bulletin board. He looked around and saw everyone glued to their smartphones.
