The Graduate Faculty of the Department of Geosciences proposes to offer a dedicated course in Remote Sensing of Coastal Environments to provide students the knowledge, skills and experience needed to conduct research of dynamic land and ocean coastal processes. In this course, students will focus on obtaining remotely sensed data and through image processing and numerical analysis derive meaningful assessment of key coastal parameters. Capabilities that students acquire from this course will support their future research in regional-to-global processes; the scope of this course will be very useful to MS and PhD students enrolled in natural science and/or policy programs including the Coastal Resources Management Program.6. 7600,7601. Remote Sensing of Coastal Environments (4,0) 2 lectures and 1 lab per week. P: Consent of instructor. Application of optical remote sensing to examinations of material transport within and between coupled land – ocean systems. Introduces image processing and analysis, integration of field measurement technologies and algorithm development. Emphasis is on the use of remote sensing as a research and decision-making tool.7.
