NURS 6110.Reproductive Physiology (2) P: NURS 6050 or consent of instructor. Underlying biologic principles and concepts related to human reproductive cycle, genetics, maternal-fetal-placental unit, and neonate.

The course credits have been reduced from 3 hrs to 2 hrs.Prerequisite general physiology content will now be covered in NURS 6050.

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1.1Examine the anatomical and psychological changes and physiological mechanisms of the human reproductive cycle across the lifespan including: conception, pregnancy, labor, puerperium and menopause.
1.2Compare and contrast sexual response in men and women.
1.3Distinguish expected patterns of fetal growth and development including mechanisms of fertilization, conception, and genetics.
1.4Examine the development and function of the human placenta.
1.5Analyze the anatomic and physiologic adaptation of the neonate to extrauterine life.
