Please provide a case study or two that shows the value of your work in providing free legal advice services

For example:
Gita was trafficked into the UK and forced to work from the age of 5 years old. She was kept as an unpaid maid and was routinely abused. Aged 15 she managed to escape. Without money, language skills or an understanding of normal life in the UK she lived on the streets before being placed in care. With the help of her local Law Centre she applied for refugee status and was properly recognised as a victim of trafficking. She is now beginning to build a new life.

Do you know of other organisations who run a service similar to this? If yes, have you spoken to them about this and how has this affected your planning and running of the service?

What the funding will pay for

Note: the aim of this breakdown is not only to show LLST why you need the funding requested, it is also to see whether there may be ways in which we can help reduce your costs if funding is granted, and ensure all related costs have been thought through and accounted for. LLST are committed to ensuring full cost recovery for the services we fund whilst ensuring best value for money. Please be honest and up front about costs and their sources—if we have queries we will come back to you for an open and honest discussion.

The item headings are provided as a suggestion and do not have to be applied rigidly—please however do give us enough detail to be able to understand the costs. If you give only vague headings we may query these.

People - beneficiaries, partners and other stakeholders

Have you asked the people who this service is aimed at helping about their views about the service or had other input from this group in the planning or implementation process? How did you do this and what was the outcome?
Which other organisations work nearby with this group?
Have or are you working with them to deliver this service? If yes, how is this working and if not why not?
Who else could be important to the success of your project? Who will be interested in it?

Your work plan or timetable of action

Note: We ask to see a work plan to help us assess whether the project is well thought out, achievable and realistic. It is not something we expect to be set in stone but will the basis on which the project starts.

Fill in the chart below, with your anticipated timeline of when you will need to do certain things to get the service/partnership up and running. You can change the headings to weeks or months depending on your project. There are another 8 boxes provided on the next page so that you can use more weeks/months as you wish. Ideally the timetable should run for the length of time you are requesting funding (or longer if you wish).
