FOOTBALL IN AMERICA BROCHURE: DIRECTIONS

Objective: Create a football team brochure that highlights their top quarterback.

Your football team brochure will consist of six sections:

1. COVER

The cover of your brochure should be neat and colorful. At a minimum the cover should contain the NFL Team Name, apicture of its mascot (either hand drawn or computer generated), and the name of the quarterback.

2. DOUBLE LINE GRAPHS

Create two double line graphs on grid paper (to be glued to the construction paper). These graphs will have two lines. The first line graph should include the completions and attempts for the 8 weeks. The second line graph should include touchdowns and interceptions for the 8 weeks. Both graphs should contain a title, both an X and Y axis with appropriate labels, and a key so that anyone can interpret your graph.

3. LINE GRAPH

Create one line graph on grid paper (to be glued to the construction paper). The line graph should include yards for the 8 weeks. This graph will have one line. The graph should contain a title, both an X and Y axis with appropriate labels, and a key so that anyone can interpret your graph.

4. TABLE CONTAINING FOOTBALL DATA

Create a table on grid paper (to be glued to the construction paper) showing the following items: the mean and median completions, mean and median attempts, mean and median yards, mean and median interceptions, and mean and median touchdowns.

5. FREQUENCY TABLE AND LINE PLOT

Create a frequency table and line plot on grid paper (to be glued to the construction paper) showing the number of touchdowns for the 8 weeks. Make sure you choose an appropriate scale and interval for the line plot.

6. DOUBLE BAR GRAPH

Create a double bar graph on grid paper (to be glued to the construction paper) showing the number of wins and losses for each of the previous 4 seasons. The graph should contain a title, both an X and Y axis with appropriate labels, and a key so that anyone can interpret your graph.

7. EXTRA CREDIT

Create a circle graph that correctly represents the 2006 completions, as broken down on the statistics page. You must correctly calculate the # of completions for each section, turn the statistics into decimals, and then turn the decimals into percents. The circle graph should accurately reflect the percentages assigned to each section. You can refer to your book for help on turning numbers into decimals and percents. This is extra credit…I will not be available to help.
