Food Safety Issues in the Event of Disasters: A Practical Application

Course Overview:
This course incorporates interactive and performance based activities to address food safety issues faced in the event of a disaster. Food safety response and recovery issues that will be covered include situational assessments, inspectional concerns, salvage and other mitigation strategies related to food retail and processing facilities impacted by a natural or man-made disaster. This course is offered by the University of Tennessee’s Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness. The course will begin at 8:00 am July 30 and end at 12:00 pm July 31, 2013.
*IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS: In order to participate inthis coures, all participants must register online and complete the pre-requisite web course “Food Safety Issues in the Event of Disasters: An Introduction”. This web course provides a necessary foundation for the Instructor Led course and will enable all participants to benefit equally from the delivery. “Food Safety Issues in the Event of Disasters: A Practical Application” is a performance level course and includes multiple hands on and interactive activities. The introductory material covered in the pre-requisite web course will not be covered in the Instructor led course delivery. A link to the online registration will ask the participants to create a username and password for our Learning Management System where the web course is located. Once completed, the system will email the participant with information about how to access the web course, which should take you no more than 4 hours to complete.
