Food & Nutrition (chap 4)

Grade Level: 7th

Unit: Food & Nutrition

Lesson #: 10

Content: Food & Nutrition Review Game

Time: 4-5 minutes

Introduction and Overview

During today’s class, we will be finishing the unit of food and nutrition. This will be the last time the class meets before the test over this unit. The last lesson of this unit consists of a review game to help to prepare the students for their test the next time the class meets. The review game that will be played in class will be a form of Jeopardy. The questions asked during the game will cover a variety of information from throughout the chapter that will also be found on the test. General topics that questions will come from include the food guide pyramid, nutrients for health and wellness, healthful meal planning, and the digestive and excretory systems. Again, the objective of playing this review game is to provide as much help as possible to the students to prepare them to do their best on the test over this chapter.

Transition to Rules and division of students onto teams

During the first 4-5 minutes, we will be introducing ourselves to the students and laying down the ground rules for the day’s class. When finished with that, we will then continue to divide the students up into pre-determined teams and explain the game.

We will split the class into 4-5 groups/teams. Then we will explain the rules of the review game (Jeopardy). After groups/teams are established we will ask each team to choose a number between 1 and 20 in order to decide the order the teams will answer the questions. The first team will then choose a category and a point value. We will read that particular question and that team will have a chance to answer the question. If the team gets the question correct they will receive those points. If the team gets the question incorrect, the next team gets a chance to answer the question. If that team gives an incorrect the next team gets a chance to answer and so on.

Time: 30 minutes

Content Objectives:

The students will be able to work together as a team with other students in order to attempt to answer the review questions
