Following is copy of an advice from the VCGLR to all Licensed Venues:

Posters now available for download from the VCGLR website www.vcglr.vic.gov.au

Dear Subscriber,

Under the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 (the Act), licensees are required to display certain signage (also referred to as posters) around their licensed premises.

Traditionally, the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) has printed and mailed copies of the relevant posters to all licensees.

To improve efficiency, these posters are now available on the VCGLR website for downloading. While the VCGLR will continue to provide mandatory signage for new licensees, we will no longer automatically mail out updated posters to licensees and permittees.

The purpose of this email is to advise you of those changes.

What posters have changed?
The following posters have been updated to reflect the doubling of fines applicable for various offences relating to the supply of liquor to minors.

·  ‘Under 18? No Supply’

·  ‘Under 18? No entry’

·  ‘Do not attempt to buy liquor for under 18s’

·  ‘Under 18? No supply (Party Bus)’

Where can licensees find posters?
Mandatoryposters areavailable for download from the VCGLR website www.vcglr.vic.gov.au. Click on the green button ‘Information about liquor signage’, located under ‘Top tasks’ in the top right-hand corner.

What are the printing requirements?

·  Posters must be printed in the original form as downloaded from the VCGLR website. No modification to the form or content of the posters is permitted

·  Posters must be printed in colour on A4 (210 x 297mm) paper

·  Posters must be printed at a sufficient quality to ensure that the keycode (located at the bottom left-hand corner) is clearly legible by VCGLR inspectors

·  Posters must be displayed so that the information contained in them is clearly visible to the public

Do the posters have to be printed on special paper?
No. For durability/longevity, the VCGLR recommends using a heavier paper stock (120-200gsm) but this is not a legal requirement.

How do we know which poster is the right version?
All new signage has a keycode (located in the bottom left-hand corner of the poster). Check this against the keycode on the VCGLR website to ensure you are using the current version.

What happens if Iicensees display an old poster?
Failure to display an up-to-date poster is an offence and may result in enforcement action by the VCGLR or Victoria Police

Can licensees laminate or frame their posters?
Yes providing all content, including the keycode, is clearly visible and not obscured. The posters have been designed with a sufficient margin to allow display in a simple frame.

Will the VCGLR still provide hard copies if requested?
Yes. VCGLR staff can print the posters in-house and mail them out upon request.

Are there any other signs that licensees need to display?
Packaged liquor licence holders must also display the free call number for Directline. These posters, along with other useful voluntary signs that licensees may wish to display in their venue, can be ordered from the VCGLR.
