The Index of Surnames of Householders in Griffith's Primary Valuation and Tithe Applotment Books, is an index of surnames by parish, County, & barony, for each of the above censuses kept in the National Library of Ireland, Dublin, and the LDS Genealogical Library on fiche. The fiche number refers to the LDS Genealogical Library fiche an entry may be found on. Griffith's Primary Valuation (1848-64), is a census of land occupiers and owners, consisting of surveys of land and buildings taken to determine how much tax a person should pay to support the poor in each poor law union. Names of tenants, lessors, townlands, parishes, and tax amounts are found in these records.
Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38), supply a census of land occupiers, giving detailed accounts, parish by parish, of the people and their farms.
