POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Part-Time Underwater Technology Specialist
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Part Time Underwater Technology Specialist is responsible for the ensuring that underwater technology equipment and support assets are maintained and operated in a safe and appropriate manner. The Part Time Underwater Technology Specialist will develop standard operating procedures (SOP), training programs and methodologies for equipment operators. The Part Time Underwater Technology Specialist will answer directly to the Dean, Marine Sciences and supervise all underwater technology operations, staff and equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Maintain underwater technology equipment operations.
2. Coordinate logistical operation and training for underwater technology.
3. Develop training and standard operating procedures for all underwater technology devices.
4. Assist in deployment and student training of underwater technology.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
· Associate degree from an accredited institution in a related area, Bachelors degree preferred.
· Previous experience in administrative/management/teaching.
· Previous experience operating multiple sonar systems, ROV and/or AUV equipment
· Ability and willingness to become proficient with new and updated equipment, build professional relationships with developers and train FKCC members to familiarity and operator levels in state of the art technologies.
· Knowledge of dive safety and dive operations.
· Familiarity with research and scientific diving techniques and requirements.
· Foundation in SONAR technologies and equipment.
· Ability to operate and pilot small boats.
· Communication skills and working in a team environment.
· Training and curriculum development, electronic and traditional.

· AAUS scientific diver
· Rescue Diver or above
· Scuba Equipment Repair Technician
· Kirby Morgan Technician
· Preferred Instructor level scuba / surface supplied diving
· Lift, carry more than 50 lbs.
· Standing, squatting, sitting majority of day.
· Ability to spend extended time on boats.
POSSESSION OR ABILITY TO ACQUIRE:
· Full facemask (interspiro, ots or similar) equipment technician.
· Familiarity with ANSI/ACDE-01-1998 Commercial Diver Training requirements.
· Individual or organizational membership in the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI)
· USCG captains license, preferred.
· Skills and abilities to serve as assistant dive safety officer.

SALARY: $13.90 per hour
