Review of FHAAN Mission / Mission:
Florida HIV/AIDS Advocacy Network (FHAAN) advocates for statewide HIV/AIDS resources including education, policies, programs, funding and legislation.

Chair, South/Major Metro Region / Liz Murray Presentation on “HIV/AIDS Medicaid Specialty Plan”

Additional Notes:
  • This is a Medicaid program, so no copays, no preauthorization for anti-viral medications.
  • If medications are on the Medicaid formulary, then they are on CHA’s formulary … plus some additional medications.
  • Roll-out: First counties (Miami-Dade): September 1, 2012. Additional counties: November 1, 2012.
Tom Liberti participated on the call and thanked FHAAN and call participants for their support to him throughout the years he worked at DOH, and he looks forward to working with us in his new capacity with CHA.

FL DOH Restructuring / Senate: Working with counties for structure. Bill will come back to legislature next session. They will first offer DOH proposal. We won’t see anything until October.Committee can remove this item from next meeting agenda.
Medicaid Reform / They will probably receive approval. They removed the 2 objectionable items.
New provider for HIV – Clear Health. Liberti hired as consultant, as other powerful people from SFL. ED is Peter Jimenez. Liz Murray (From Gilead).
AHCA working on this now.
FHAAN will be active in keeping community informed.
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act / Pending US Supreme Court decision by end of June. Probable the court will break it out to 5 parts; approving some, not approve other parts.
House to propose bill, but Senate to hold it until after November elections.
RW reauthorization – no national consensus. Most want 2-3 (4) year extension until if/when ACA takes over. HRSA taking comments until July … FHAAN to comment. What is our FHAAN consensus? Especially funding formula. Jesse and Joey to pull a team of people together to create our statement. Due by July 31st. Ted sent email to full FHAAN to be involved:

TAI working on a template to send out within the next week.
ADAP Program Out to Bid / Jesse reviewed the previous discussion of a vendor outside BoHA to handle the ADAP program. The bid process still being worked on. Written and being routed internally for approval. April-June for procurement process. July-Sept for awarding, October 1st start date.
Jesse Fry: Asked the group “what do we want to do?” Public policy poling? What community and patients want to see out of the program? A survey type instrument conducted widely (as objective as possible).
Joey Wynn: Can we find out from Division of Management Services if there is going to be any information out soon? And what is a mechanism for us to provide input?

All: we hope the Bureau has a public comment period- Need community input.
Jesse asked if anyone would work on the survey feel free to send him any suggestions ().
Michael Ruppal suggested Spencer Lieb could help out as well.

FHAAN Admin Motions / Can FHAAN Administrator make motions, etc as a full participant? Yes. Approved in March CG meeting. For 6/4/12 full FHAAN approval.
FHAAN Social Media / Recruitment Committee about facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter – Layne Kinney lead volunteer. Within our outside TAI social medias? To Convening Group.
OK to stay with TAI, but would be great if FHAAN has independent accounts.
Layne can lead. Need team to maintain - Recruitment Committee to manage.
FHAAN Business Cards / Each Convening Group member has templateto personalize and use to promote FHAAN and recruit members.
Interns/Volunteers / Bryant Smith in Jacksonville, others? Ken to meet with Bryant in person.
Convening group and Members are asked to help promote our Internship positions with our Intern information and application link:

Needed Intern Position: Policy research, etc. description helpful to recruit - Advocacy Committee to draft.
FHAAN Photos/Videos / All FHAAN members asked to capture photos, video clips, presentation materials, etc to send to for use in newsletter, website, social media, etc.
FHAAN Organizational Structure Document Update / The image should be modified:
-PLWHA list first, then alphabetic.
-Committee titles should be listed.

Increase Technology Use for Recruitment / Podcast mic and computer to record folks with 1-2 min sound bites about what advocacy means to them and then we could put them together and use them for different events.
