Job Title: Inmate Supervisor/ Construction/Maintenance Crew

Summary Provide direct supervision of two (2) inmate workers at various locations by assigning and inspecting needed work and work areas; One (1) District Office Porter, One (1) Warehouse Porter, One (1) Bus Barn Porter, Two (2) Vehicle Cleaners (Bus Barn), One (1) Welder (Bus Barn), One (1) Helper, assigned as needed (Bus Barn).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·  Adjust inmates work assignments based on daily FUSD needs.

·  Work closely with DOC staff to identify criteria for hiring and assigning inmates, completing work evaluations and accountability.

·  Train inmates in required work area safety precautions and expectations.

·  Complete annual inmate supervision training with DOC as required by the IGA contract between FUSD and DOC.

·  Complete random searches of inmate work areas and common areas to insure they are not in possession of, or concealing prohibited items. This includes daily checks of the Bus Barns fence line to looking for items that may have been left for inmates. The need for these checks has been identified as a priority by DOC.

·  Brief FUSD staff on the expectations and limitations that DOC has for working around inmates.

·  General construction experience required to include: Carpentry, Concrete and Block masonry work.

·  Arc, Tig, Mig Welding and Metal fabrication is essential to the job.

·  On call to drive school bus as needed

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED 1-3 years’ supervisory experience. Cooperative working relationships throughout the district. Must be able to organize workloads. 10+ year experience in good standing with Arizona Department of Corrections.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Arizona CDL Drivers License with passenger endorsement, First Aid, CPR

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment

·  Salary based on column F J of the classified salary schedule as established by the Governing Board

·  12 month position, 8 hours per day

·  Full benefits as assigned for this position

Clearances

·  Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination

·  Valid I-9 form

·  Department of Public Safety (DPS) Fingerprint Clearance

Evaluation

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Support Services/Transportation Administrator in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
